(Cole at the top!)
Cole

"Ms. Calvo?" a sweet feminine voice sounds from the woman standing next to my mother as I walk in.

However, my attention was not on my mother, but on the beautiful young woman standing next to her. I only had a view from behind, but damn she was fine. Looking at her caused me to stumble slightly, but I hid it quickly and recovered, continuing to watch her as she turns around.

She was even more beautiful from the front. Her light brown hair fell in perfect curls down to just below her breasts, matching the dark chocolate of her eyes. Her face was perfect, not because of the make-up, though it made it even more flawless. This girl was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen!

"Cole," I heard my mother breathe, snapping me out of my staring and finally looking at my own mother.

"Mother," I respond, nodding not knowing what else to do.

I look back to the young woman, letting my eyes trail up and down her perfect form dressed in the beautiful dress and high heels that made her legs look long and ample.

"Cole, this is my assistant Hale..." my mother starts, but is interrupted.

"Shale," she says quietly, looking down at her hands playing with her clutch.

Shale! What a unique name for such a perfect girl. I repeated the name over and over in my head, getting used to it. I liked the sound of it, or at least how it sounded in my head.

"...I have requested for her to accompany us to dinner to...um...help make things...um...less awkward..." my mother continues, drawing my attention back to her.

"If that's not okay then I can..." Shale adds quietly and carefully.

"No, no, it's perfectly fine," I assure her, smirking at her and looking her over slowly, making sure she got the idea.

I just wanted to be able to look at her longer, and get to know her, but that isn't something that goes with my reputation, so I don't let it show.

I see a look of disgust and anger pass over her face as she glares at me. The look she's giving me, makes me panic. She can't already be mad at me! I look back to my mother, to get away from her withering glare. I didn't want to screw this up...the relationship between the both of them.

"Shall we?" I ask, clearing my throat and motioning towards the open glass doors.

"Yes," my mother replies breathlessly, moving over to her desk to grab her belongings.

Shale's eyes follow her boss as she moves over to her desk, giving me a perfect opportunity. I silently approach her and stand beside her. When she looks back she jumps a little out of surprise and I struggle to keep the amusement off my face.

I hold my arm out to her and I see her look at me nervously and confused. Her eyes slide over my shoulder, no doubt to seek my mother's approval. I don't blame her. You could easily get fired for getting too friendly with your bosses son, especially when the boss is my mother, but I won't let Shale get in trouble for my actions.

Shale must get the approval she was looking for because she slides her arm over mine, albeit hesitantly. I smirk to myself as I lead her out the door, my mother walking casually on my other side.

"So...how is school for you?" my mother asks as an attempt to start a conversation.

"Actually I dropped out of law school," I grumble, taking a sip of my wine.

"What!" she shrieks. "Why?"

"Because I'm going to take over father's restaurant," I say, peeking sideways at Shale who is staring at her own glass of wine as if it's the most interesting thing in the world.
