(Shale ^)

Shale

I stare at the T.V screen, drinking my wine, feeling empty. When I was a kid I swore I would never get to dependent on a guy that without I would feel lost, but here I am. I hadn't even realized I loved him until tonight when I saw them kissing in that hallway.

The sound of nocking coming from my front door gets my attention, but I ignore it, knowing that it's Cole. Olivia has a key to the apartment and can get in on her own. She's the only person I want to talk to at the moment.

"Shale, open up please. Let me explain," I hear Cole's muffled voice form the other side of the door.

I remain silent, finishing my wine in one smooth gulp, before pouring myself another glass. I sit back into the couch letting out a relaxed sigh as I take, yet another sip.

"Shale, please," I hear his voice break on the other side of the wood, sending my already shattered heart breaking into even smaller pieces.

I take another sip to drown out his voice and my feelings. Enjoying how my body and mind seem to be going numb.

Cole

I wait outside of Shale's apartment, leaning against the wall beside her door. Sitting down, I lean my elbows on my knees, running my hands through my hair as I replay the events of tonight over and over again in my head.

I should have never left Shale. I shouldn't have let Bea get that close to me, shouldn't have let have let her fucking kiss!

She ruined everything I had with Shale, though I know I'm not completely innocent. I had every opportunity to push her away, but I just locked up, and now Shale and I are...fuck I don't even know what we are.

I lean my head against the wall, closing my eyes as they start to burn with unshed tears. I rarely ever cry, but this is something worth my tears. I squeeze my eyes shut, trying to block out the images of Shale crying .

"Why the hell are you here! Go home!" I hear a harsh voice say above me.

I crack open an eye, finding Olivia glowering over me. her makeup was smeared, her hair was a mess, her dress was wrinkled, and her skin looked pale, making the burns on her arm stick out unflatteringly.

"You look like shit," I comment, getting to my feet.

"So do you. Now get the fuck away," she growls, pulling her key out of her small purse.

I hang by, waiting for her to open the door. As soon as she opens the door and walks in, I try to follow her, but she spins around with a glare. I try to look behind her to see Shale, but don't see anything.

"Cole, go away," she says, her voice dangerously low.

"Don't let him in!" Shale's broken voice croaks from within the apartment building.

"What the fuck did you do to her?" Olivia asks harshly, shoving me out into the hallway.

I remain silent, looking down at the ground, unable to meet Olivia's angry gaze. I can tell by her gasp that she understands.

"You son of a bitch," she snarls, landing a solid punch to my cheek.

I stumble back, into the hallway wall, only to have Olivia shove me up against the wall with her forearm pressed tightly against my throat.

"You asshole! How dare you fucking hurt Shale! I told you that if you ever hurt her that I’ll rip your fucking head off," she says, a murderous look in her eyes.
