"Slow down!" I shout from the backseat, gripping onto Cole's arm as Olivia speeds through the city, dodging cars, managing to avoid new York traffic, but giving me a permanent heart attack.

This was like when she was learning to drive all over again!

Suddenly the car comes to a skidding halt, causing Cole and I to fly forward against out seatbelt with a cry of protest, before slamming back against the seat. I look up and see Olivia spin around and smirk at us, a bright glow to her face.

"Look at that! We are here, and all alive!" she exclaims, while I attempt to calm my ragged breathing.

"You are never driving my car again," Cole says beside me, wide eyed.

“Well if you ever want to be with Shale, I suggest you rethink that,†she winks, causing Cole to let out a sarcastic gasp.

"You wouldn't dare threaten me with her," he says, placing a hand over his heart.

Olivia shrugs, before turning back around and hopping out of the car, tossing the keys at the valet driver.

I turn to Cole a smile on my face. This night was off to a great start.

"I can't wait to watch Olivia make a fool of herself in there," I chuckle at Cole, pulling him out of the car behind me.

We walk up to Olivia who is waiting patiently for us at the entrance. She gives us a smirk before sauntering forward, and through the massive glass doors. Cole wraps his arm around my waist, pulling me towards him as kissing the top of my head.

"I want you to know that most of these people are snobby rich bastards, so don't take anything they say to heart, got it?" he says into my hair.

I nod my head in understanding, leaning up to kiss him on the cheeks, before we walk through the doors.

The sound of classical music is the first thing to hit me, followed by the smell of delicious food and various perfumes. I stare around, wide-eyed, at the sea of colorful clothing. There were handsome men, dressed in fancy black suits, while woman of various nationalities and wearing unique dresses, showing off their figures and wealth.

"Okay, I'm back, I don't know anyone and don't feel like socializing," Olivia whispers, coming up beside me, causing me to laugh.

A few heads turn at my outburst, causing my cheeks to burn as I duck my head into Cole's chest to avoid their attention.

"Oh wait I lied! I see food! I'll catch up with you guys later," Olivia says excitedly beside me, before scurrying off through the crowd, towards the buffet table in the back, earning a few glares and scoffs from the surrounding crowd.

Cole pulls me off the left, walking me along the edge of the ballroom. I watch as a few people shoot us curious looks, mostly by young woman.

"Don't pay attention to them," Cole whispers in my ear, causing a shiver to run down my spine.

"I'll try not to, but I don't feel like I fit in," I say seriously, causing him to stop and look at me with a hard expression.

"Shale, don't let their small minds affect you. This isn't medieval times, despite what they may think. You belong here just as much as anyone else, and you are mine, so you fit in perfectly. I don't care what people think and neither should you. Okay?" he says, raising his eyebrows.

"Yes, sir," I smile, pecking his lips.

Suddenly a throat clears behind us, causing us to break apart and face the intruder. I try to hide my shock at the gorgeous young woman standing in front of us.
