Zack wiped his sweaty palms against his pants. Only a few more minuets until he arrived in Louise's road. After the mini-panic-attack he had experienced as he past the 'Welcome To Virginia' sign, he had calmed down slightly. But not enough to stop the sweatiness and slightly shaking hands.
During the two-and-a-half hour drive Zack had a lot of time to think. Probably too much. In this time he had thought about the many, many ways that Louise could react to his appearance. He made a mental list as he was driving down the twisting roads, growing nearer to her house. The list consisted of;
- she could scream
- she could cry (happy or sad?)
- she could be angry
- she could ignore him
- she could hug him (fingers crossed)
- she could not know who he is and the whole thing could be a lie and the real Louise isn't even called Louise and is called Julie and she lives with 11 cats
- she could slam the door in face (likely)
- she could punch him (very likely)Zack was just about to add to his list when the sat-nav dinged, indicating he has reached his destination. He glanced at his surroundings, seems in he was encircled by nothing but trees and a winding long road he was sure he hadn't reached destination. Until he was face to face with Louise, he was no where near.
He kept on diving, until the road became surrounded by houses and people going-about their daily life.
He kept on driving straight, he glanced at the sigh posts as he did.
'Edgehill Road'
'West Lancaster Road
'Overbrook Road'
After reading this, Zack took a sharp left turn down to Overbrook Road, lazily waving his hands around in attempt to say sorry to the person behind for the lack of indication.
He carried on slowly down the road, scanning each house and their number. Turning his head every few seconds to read the other side of the road.
97, 98, 99, 100, 101, 102...
101! Zack immediately did an emergency stop, once again waving his hand apologetically to the poor person behind, who just rolled their eyes in response. He began to reverse until he was sitting outside of her house.
His mind began racing as he nervously got out of the car. Maybe he should go to Matt's first? Instead of just barging into a random house? Zack was just about to turn to house number 104 the one he was guessing was Matts (though it could be 98) when his excitement got the better of him and he started striding up to the door of house number 101.
He hesitated slightly before knocking on the door. His once again, sweaty palms rubbing together as he nervously waits for the door.
A million questions run through his head, what if she doesn't like me? What if she doesn't want to see me? What if—
Too late now.
The door pulls open and his eyes look up to meet another pair, owned by someone impatiently standing in the doorway.
"Matt?" He asks, his voice going higher than it usually is. He coughs, relieved that Louise wasn't the one to answer the door and hear his awkward voice crack.
"Hey man" Matt replies calmly. Zack gives him a questioning look.
"What are you doing in Louise's house?" Zack asks, growing impatient.
"Calm down dude, I gave you my house number 'cause I didn't want some random guy showing up to Louise's house" Matt replies, a slight smugness in his voice.
Zack smiles slightly at this, knowing that he's not the only one who wants to look out for Lou.
"Sorry bro, I'm just nervous, you seem like a good friend" Zack replied awkwardly, feeling slightly guilty for snapping at him. Matt just nods in reply.
"So, what house is hers?" Zack asks."Number 104, don't mess this up, okay? I don't think the Jamie's round and I'm pretty sure she's in. Plus her moms at work"
"That's dude, I owe you" Zack says with a slight smile before walking away from the house.
With shaky legs, Zack walks down the road a few houses before he stands out just outside
the gate of a yellow, fairly large house. But in comparison to Zack's home, it's a mansion.Zack walks up to the front door, hesitating for a little too long before knocking. In the spur of the moment Zack's mind goes blank, and all he can think about is Louise. And how he's actually meeting her.
There's no answer for a while, he knocks again a little harder this time. He grabs his phone and dials the number he knows so well.
"Jamie for fuck sake! If your here to apologise then—"He presses call.
"Ugh one second, it's my phone" he heard through the door.
Zack could see through the small bit of glass in the door, she was fumbling for her phone. She grabbed it and answered without even looking at the caller ID. Her hand twitches towards the door as she holds the phone up to her ear.
"Hello?"
She finally pulls open the door and her eyes meet Zack's. She can't move. She is frozen in her position, unable to even utter a word.
Zack smiles slightly, as he looks down into Louise's eyes, his phone still held up to his ear.
"Destination reached"
