Constant Temptation - Chapter Nine
Louis’s POV.
“C’mon Lou, cheer up. You’ve been quiet since we came back.” A voice says to me and I notice with slight recollection that the voice is one of Harvey’s friends. I don’t look up to him, I only show a sign that I heard him by smiling slightly. It’s all I can manage.
Since returning to school, I’ve forced my thoughts not to drift too much towards Harry, considering if I do I might go and see him myself, fundamentally breaking my own rules as I do so. It’s as if I’ve pulled myself out of his world and I’m punishing myself even more by attending school, it’s because of that really that I catch myself drawing Harry’s eyes in my books out of boredom. The most terrifying but being that I’m drawing the veins near his eyes as well. I want to stop myself from doing it but it feels as though every time I’m drawing him it’s like I’m getting closer to working out his secrets. And going to see him whilst knowing his secrets doesn’t count as breaking my rules, does it?
Asking Cassie has always been in the back of mind though… does that make me a terrible person? Is that intruding on my boyfriend’s life? I’m not sure, she probably doesn’t know. It’s as if he’s set me a ticking time bomb and I’m waiting for it to go off. It’s only a matter of time before I cave in and see him, whether that be just for his words or for his lips…
That’s another thing as well, it’s now been a week and every night since he’s left my dreams have been flooded with him doing rude things to me. Some of them haven’t been as sexual, I’ve had dreams where he’s just against my back pressing his lips against my neck but I’ve always woken up panting for more. My dreams are growing more vivid as well, as if my subconscious is demanding me to go back to Harry.
Clearing my throat, I try to mutter up a response. “I haven’t.” Which is all I can manage after I realize my voice sounds terrible.
I feel a hand on my back and I look next to me vaguely, only to find its Eleanor. “Maybe you should go and speak to Harry.” I’ve told her everything, but everyone else only know words of gossip.
I shake my head at her words. “It might help, Lou.” Harvey inputs.
I roll my eyes at them all. “Will you all please leave it, I’m fine.” This seems like enough to persuade them to leave me alone. They all hastily go back into conversation.
Staring at my shoes, I take notice of the fact that I have odd socks on and I’m really losing my patience with Harry. Even my friends are losing patience With Harry, or maybe even me due to the fact I haven’t gone to see him. Should I go to see him?
Shaking my head at my own thoughts, I mindlessly mumble a goodbye to everyone before I get up from the grass and head over to our school building. The school itself is quite big, filled with depressed looking teenagers at the fact that it’s only Wednesday. I’m greeted with smiles along the way, no one tries to engage in a conversation with me so I wordlessly keep my head down as I approach our library. Opening the side door located outside, I wonder in.
I look up the next time to greet a voice calling me, and I notice with a smile that it’s Mrs Reid our librarian. “Louis dear, classes are about to start.” She says sweetly.
I want to lie and say I have a free period because I’m too absorbed in my book but I only nod at her and then pick up my stuff.
She’s the first to fill the awkward silence. “What lesson do you have?”
I put my bag on before replying. “English, I think.” She smiles.
“Oh, did you hear that your old English teacher has retired?” She asks me and quite frankly, I’m relieved. She carries on. “I hear you have a new teacher that’s recently moved here, I haven’t met him personally but I hear he’s quite the nice gentleman. Young as well, apparently.” She mutters the last part to herself.
