Constant Temptation - Chapter Thirteen
Louis’s POV.
“Why should I trust you? You seriously can’t expect me to believe you just want a ‘chat’ with me, can you?” I seem to have found my tongue, thank God. She smirks at me evilly for a moment, making me grow even more apprehensive.
“If my intentions weren’t genuine, your family would be dead and I wouldn’t have waited until I knew no one was in your home to speak with you.” She gazes at me for a moment, as if she can tell that I’m having an internal war within my mind. “Instead, I’m here now.”
Dear God, I hope my facial expressions aren’t giving off anything too embarrassing about how truly terrified I really am. Having trust towards Harry is one thing, but I’m not prepared to find out Molly’s tolerance for my life. Is there a hidden motive behind this, or are her words really genuine? Then I remember Cassie. “This isn’t true at all, you’re just looking to get a reaction out of them as revenge for Cassie hurting you.”
“Dear God, can you make it sound any weaker?” She sighs dismissively, making me blush unconditionally. “She didn’t hurt me emotionally, Louis. She killed me. How do you expect me to forgive her so easily after that? If it’d been you, you would’ve been dead.” She speaks the words for longer, as if knowing it would make me shiver.
I don’t speak for a few moments, knowing her words to be true. How can I step into this world with opinions of my own? How will I be expected to make my own decisions if I have no idea how I’m supposed to feel about this? Hastily, I ask, “What happens when my family walk through the door?”
She smirks, making me expect the worst.
“There’s been a little accident around all your sisters’ school. Nothing that involves your family, don’t worry,” She says, glimpsing into the panicked look on my face. I scoff in disbelief. “Dylan was just a bit hungry, nothing for you to be concerned over.” She places her words carefully, threatening, even.
“All of this to talk to me without the company of other vampires? Or do you just want to make them worried?” She smiles, a smile that means that I am exactly right. I lean back in the chair, tired of this already. “What do you want to talk to me about then?”
She scowls. “I’d lose the attitude if I were you, I could easily be with Dylan in a few moments, telling him to kill the girl he’s been feeding on. Do you want me to make the consequence worse? Have him feed on one of your friends… Eleanor, was her name?”
She’s testing my patience level, or attempting to make an extremely cruel point. She’s smirking, letting me know that she’s knows exactly who Eleanor is and how much she means to me. I shake my head in aspiration, knowing there’s now nothing I can do, and I hold back my tongue.
After a few moments when it’s clear to her I’m not going to say anything, she speaks. “I heard Harry told you his little secret, obviously telling mine in the process so let me get a few things in order before you and Harry walk off into the sunset,” I stare down at my fingers at the mention of Harry.
“I’ve already been scolded by the rest of them about what will happen if I tell anyone what Harry or any of them is.” I mention when she pauses for longer than necessary.
She rolls her eyes. “Sounds threatening.” I want to laugh at the sarcasm in her voice but decide against it, knowing I probably shouldn’t laugh at this given situation. “Let me make it more threatening,” Now I definitely don’t want to laugh. “If you tell anyone what we are, I will kill you.” She smirks at the end, her voice being so sure, making me shiver in fear.
