Constant Temptation - Chapter Two

(Louis's POV)

Someone please explain to me why Andrew had to come with us.

No, seriously, he's following Harry and me whilst we're walking. I mean, my mother could realise that this could be the start of a potential new relationship with Harry; any normal mother would. But no, when I leave Harry standing at the entrance waiting for me, and I go to tell my mother that I'm going out walking with Harry, and straight away, she makes me hold her wine glass while she phones Andrew. I know, I know, any normal person would've run out there screaming, but I stayed there waiting for Andrew to show up because I didn't want to disrespect my mother in front of Harry.

Looking back, I should've run out. It would've been less embarrassing.

Now, we're walking in incredibly awkward silence, with Andrew trailing at least 10 feet away from us; which I made him do. He didn't look too happy about being here either, considering when Mum rung he was on his way home with a bottle of liquor in his hand. He told me he had to store it somewhere, which I thought took dedication. I'll have to contribute to his Christmas bonus this year.

"So," Harry started, making me almost jump out of my skin in the process. All he had offered me since we'd gotten out here were a few smirks at my reaction to my Mother. "Your Mother's quite controlling then, I see?" He praised it into a question but I wasn't sure whether or not I was to respond.

"You have no idea. She makes Andrew stay with us in the Holidays." I responded, causing Harry to burst into laughter. I laughed with him, forgetting for a minute that he may be mocking me; I may have liked the sound of his laughter a little too much.

He sobered up after a minute. "That must be hell."

He said it so bluntly and freely that it almost made me forget Andrew watching us. "It's not that bad. I know she's only doing it because she loves me."

He smiled, yet he didn't show his teeth. "How old are you?"

It must've looked strange, me thinking for a while before I responded. I knew my age perfectly well, why he was asking was beyond me. "I'm Seventeen. How old are you?" My mother always said that when you're suspicious you should just keep asking questions to throw them off guard.

"Seventeen," He said, not missing a second to respond. "That must be a lot of work, to keep you protected when you're already Seventeen."

It was just a second. A second that I looked beyond offended, and his eyebrow had begun to rise before I put my mask back on and replied. "If you mean a lot of money goes into it, then yes it does."

He caught my arm, causing us both to stop and me to look into his emerald eyes. "I have no intention for money, Louis. That's not what I'm here for."

It was my turn not to waste a second. "Then what are you here for?"

"I'm in Chicago because I have family here that promised to help me with something, and they said to give me a home for the time being. I'm at this party because my sister forced me out of the house and promised it would be fun. And I'm out here with you because my sister is a liar and you're incredibly beautiful." He replied, seeming to lean closer to my lips with every word.

Oh Jesus Christ, Louis say something! Say something clever. And romantic. He just called you beautiful! For god sake, either say something or kiss him! His lips were close, so close that I was sure he could feel every shaky breath that I was taking. Louis, you just met the guy, you know hardly anything about him, and so do you really want to kiss him now? It would give him the wrong impression...
