Constant Temptation - Chapter fifteen
Harry’s POV
“Where’s Cole?” Cassie asks curiously the following Monday morning. I’m leaning against the island in the kitchen glancing at the headline of today’s paper for any evidence of recent attacks. So far, we all haven’t found any other evidence.
“I’m not sure love, he might be out with Niall.” I suggest for her while she sits across from me with her head in her hands miserably.
She shakes her head. “I’ve seen Niall this morning and he said that Cole might be with you.” She counters back.
I shrug helplessly at her. “I haven’t seen Cole this morning, sorry Cass. He might just be out somewhere, I’m assuming he’ll be back soon.”
She looks sad for a moment before nodding and then sighing. “I just don’t know what could be so important that he rushed out so early for.”
Louis’s POV
Cole and I run, in a race full of testosterone, up to the gate of my house. Just when I believe I may win, he uses his vampire speed at the last moment to beat me. I refrain from sticking my tongue out childishly at him, considering we’ve just ran for quite a bit, I’d look like a dog.
“Not- fair.” I pant out to him and Cole just shrugs at me a though he’s the greatest person in the world and he can’t help it.
“A vampire in any situation will do that to you.” I frown at him in utter amazement.
“You’re not tired at all?” I ask in disbelief, not forgetting the fact that he’s technically dead but still! I practically die every time I even consider exercise.
“It was only six miles Louis, if you’re so tired from even something like that then I think you should also add more running sessions on your own.” I groan from his response and I get a reminder from him that it was my idea to do this, and I graciously give him the finger back on the way to my front door.
Harry’s POV
It’s not long after Cassie and I’s conversation that Cole attempts to turn up at our front door without going noticed. The fact that Gemma and I have been waiting for him in the kitchen for a while doesn’t help his attempt at getting out, in fact it makes it all the more hilarious when he curses at the sound of Gemma’s voice.
“And just where have you been?” Gemma demands with her arms crossed. I stand a little distance away from her just so Cole knows that I’m not as mad at she is.
Cole gives her a deathly look. “You’re not my mother, Gemma, I can do whatever the hell I want without having to answer to you.” I inhale sharply next to Gemma, making it obvious to Cole that I won’t hesitate to hurt him if he goes against my sister.
“You could’ve at least told someone you were going Cole, or left a note!” I exclaim at him and he raises his eyebrows at me.
“Would you have just let a note if you were out with Louis?” He counters back.
I roll my eyes at him. “That’s different. I knew for a fact that Cassie was home with you because she was sat here worrying about you.” I respond forcefully in an attempt to make him feel bad.
He doesn’t seem fazed. “This isn’t even about that.” He says confidentially before turning to Gemma. “If it had been Harry that was out for the morning, you wouldn’t have even batted an eyelid and would’ve just assumed that he was with Louis. Meanwhile, I do the same thing and you think wrongly of why I was out straight away.” When Gemma and I don’t respond, he scoffs in a vicious way. “That’s what I thought.”
