13. Life is so unfair

I walk to the math class and I sit to my seat next to Joanne. Jake walks in the room little bit after me, checks me out and smiles. I can smell a freshly smoked cigarette when he walks past me.

"He's so hot!" Joanne chuckles quietly to my ear.

"He is!" I smile.

We have a math test today and Jake is much more confident than he was when we had that last test! I'm also pretty sure he is going to get a better score than then!

Joanne and I finish the test at the same time and we walk to the hallway.

"I bet you are waiting for Jake?" She asks.

"Yeah."

"I'm starving, I really need to go!"

"Save a seat for me." I smile.

"Sure." She says and starts walking to the cafeteria.

Not a long later Jake walks from the classroom, this time he wasn't the last one there!

"Wow, that was fast." I say.

"Wow, you really know how to flatter a man." Jake rolls his eyes.

"Jake..." I say and I feel my cheeks getting red.

"You look great today!" Jake just says and

"You look great too." I chuckle.

We take our food and start looking for Joanne and I see her talking to someone. Jake and I walk to them and sit on the empty seats.

"Hey."

"Hey!" Joanne smiles. "Jackson was here all by himself so I thought I should keep him company."

"Great!" Jake smiles and starts instantly shoving food to his mouth.

"Pig." Jackson whispers to him.

"I'm hungry!" Jake answers with his mouth full of food.

"You know what?" Joanne whispers so boys can't hear.

"Tell me?"

"Jackson really reminds me of Michael."

"That is so true! They look so much alike and I didn't even think that before!"

"Right! And look at that smile." Joanne says and tears start building to her eyes.

"Are you okay?" Jackson suddenly asks from Joanne.

Joanne just stands up and walks quickly to girls bathroom.

"I need to go." I say and walk after Joanne.

I open the bathroom door and Joanne is just standing near the sinks.

"You okay?" I ask.

"Yeah. I just... I just miss him so much. It would be his birthday soon."

"I miss him too!" I say and tears start building into my eyes too.

"I think I'm just gonna go home." Joanne sighs.

"Okey. Call me if you need me!"

"I will." She says and we hug before she leaves from the bathroom.

Michael was Joanne's older brother, he died in a car crash 3 years ago. Michael was seriously the nicest guy I have ever met! He was always smiling and always there if someone needed help. Joanne and him were best friends and they did everything together.

Michael's death was really hard for Joanne, well obviously, but her dad turned into an alcoholic after it and her mother moved to a different state so she didn't have anyone but me and my family.

Gladly she is okay now, her grades at school are so good that she is going to get far in life. She also started taking care of herself after her dad started drinking so she is really independent! She is literally the strongest woman I know, and I love her so much.

I walk back to the table and start eating the rest of my food, then I realize the boys are staring at me.

"Did I say something?" Jackson asks.

"Oh no." I shake my head.

"Good. I thought I said something that made her feel bad."

"No no. Just some... Other stuff."

"Is she okay?" Jackson is so worried about her and I find it very cute.

"Yeah. She just left home a little bit early."

"Are you okay?" Jackson asks when he sees my red eyes.

"I'm fine." I smile.

"Jackson added me on Facebook right after I got home and asked if I was alright?" Joanne says to me on the phone later at night. I can hear from her voice that she is smiling.

"Aww, that is so thoughtful!" I smile and lay on my bed.

"He is so sweet."

"He truly is!" I say. I've met Jackson just few times but every time he just makes me feel so loved and he is so kind to everyone.

"We chatted for awhile and I told him about Michael too."

"Oh."

"And my about dad..."

"I bet he understood."

"Yeah, you know about his dad don't you?"

"Yes... And it's so unfair. Jackson is the kindest and still his dad has to be so cruel!"

"Life is unfair." Joanne sighs.

"It really is."

HEEY!

Sorry for this late and a bit short update, I had a 13th chapter already written but I didn't like it so I wrote a completely new one! Not sure if this was better at all but...

I thought about my titles and I think I will change all of them at some point (:
