JAKES POV!!
I wake up to my alarm and I sit on the side of my bed. I rub my tired eyes and I hear knock on my door.
"Yeah?" I ask.
"Are you awake?" Mom asks.
"Yes." I answer and mom walks in while putting her brown hair up in a bun.
"I need to go to work now. Would you be so kind and...?" Mom sighs.
"Yes! I wake Abby up and drop her to school!" I say before she finishes her sentence. "Like I always do..." I mumble so she doesn't hear me.
"Thank you dear, thank you, thank you!" She says and gives me a kiss on the cheek.
"Now I have red lipstick on my cheek." I sigh and try to wipe it off with my hand.
"Wash it out so Emily won't get jealous." Mom smirks and leaves my room.
"Make sure Abby eats her breakfast!" She yells from the front door.
I rub my eyes again and stand up. I go take a quick shower before waking Abby up.
I walk back to my room with a towel on my waist and I find something to wear, black jeans and a white shirt just like almost every day.
I go to Abby's room and open her curtains, she is already awake and she is watching me with her sleepy eyes.
"Good morning sunshine." I say and hug her.
"Good morning." She whispers.
"Did you sleep well?"
"Yeah."
"What do you want for breakfast?"
"Eggs. Like yesterday!"
"Okay, but first you need to go to the bathroom and get dressed up." I say and she runs to the bathroom.
I walk in the kitchen and I start making coffee and some eggs for both of us. Soon Abby sits on a stool next to the kitchen counter with fresh clothes on.
"Here." I say and give her breakfast.
"Thanks Jake." She smiles and starts biting her food. I take a brush from the counter and start brushing her long tangled hair.
"That hurts." She mumbles.
"I'm sorry, I'm trying to be careful. Do you want braids?"
"I want two french braids!" She says.
Yes, I fucking know how to do french braids, got a problem with that? I needed to learn! Mom always leaves to work really early and I always had to make sure Abby is ready for school or kindergarten. Our dad, or Earl, left when Abby was born so he wasn't here helping us out. So I got his job, I learned how to change diapers and I learned how to make a crying baby happy again. I was always the one who stayed home when she was sick, I always had to do breakfast for two, and I needed to learn how to do braids!
How many knows about my braiding skills, Abby and mom! Okay and Jackson, but he has been there for me from the beginning.
...and I really don't want Emily to find out just yet.
I braid Abby's hair and I start eating my breakfast.
"Jake." Abby says with her mouth full of food.
