Once again, Jake and Jackson said we have to come to this party and here we are. Joanne and I are sitting on a couch while sipping beer and watching other teens play beer pong, music is loud and some people are dancing.
"Dance with me." Jackson says to Joanne when he comes from the kitchen. Joanne agrees and lets Jackson pull herself into the dance floor.
I really love Joannes and Jacksons friendship, they look really happy and both of them are laughing because neither one of them knows how to dance.
Jake went to pick up more beer but that was over an hour ago. I tried calling him but he didn't pick up. Jackson went to look for him but didn't find him.
"Maybe he just went home." Jackson said, but I think Jake would have said something before leaving.
Time goes by, and Jake is still missing and not answering my calls or texts, it's getting late and I decide to just walk home. Jackson offers to walk with me but we are not far away from home so I decline.
Next morning I wake up to my phone ringing.
"Hey." I answer.
"Hey. I'm so sorry I bailed on you last night. I had too much to drink and I apparently just went home. I can't really remember." Jake mutters.
"I was worried."
"I know. I'm sorry."
"I could visit you later?" I say and get up from my bed.
"Nah. I'm so hangover that I'm probably just gonna sleep all day. See you tomorrow at school?"
"Okay."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
"Jake called me yesterday and apologized for leaving the party." I say to Joanne and Jackson at the cafeteria.
"Did he say why?" Joanne asks.
"He said he had too much to drink and apparently just left, he said he lost memory from that night."
"I don't remember him drinking that much." Jackson says.
"Me neither." Joanne agrees.
"And he has never blacked out from drinking before." Jackson continues.
"But from drugs?" I ask and I stare Jackson.
"Well yes, but he is off drugs." Jackson assures.
"Yes, but where is he now? He skipped math."
"Maybe he is just sleeping." Joanne shrugs.
"Yeah. You don't need to worry, I really really don't believe he's using." Jackson says and I just have to take his word for it.
When I get home from school I get a phone call from Jake.
"Hey. I don't feel so good so I skipped school, I'm probably going to skip tomorrow too."
"Are you sick?"
"Yeah. I'm sweating like crazy and everything hurts."
"Do you want anything? I could make you some soup or I could bring you tea. Or if you would just like some company?"
"I don't really want anything. I'm just going back to bed."
"Okay. Call me if you need anything."
"I will. Thanks."
It's Friday and we are sitting in the cafeteria with Joanne and Jackson. Jake skipped the whole week. He says he is really sick and he doesn't let me come visit. He doesn't even answer his phone I'm really getting worried.
Suddenly our phones vibrate at the same time. It's Jake, asking us to a party tonight.
"Apparently he isn't sick anymore." I roll my eyes.
"Little flu hadn't stopped him before." Jackson says.
"Well...?" I say.
"I'm going." Jackson shrugs. He is still certain that Jake is not doing anything weird, Jake is just acting like Jake. And I want to believe him, he has known Jake longer than me after all.
"I can't, I have to wake up early tomorrow." Joanne says and Jackson looks at me.
"To a party? Again? We just went to a party last week." I sigh. "But if this is the only chance to see Jake."
"So you are coming?"
"If I can sneak out after my parents go to bed."
I wait until my parents are asleep so I can go outside without them noticing. I've done this before so I know where to step so I wouldn't make much noise.
I open the door slowly and I walk outside. I push the door shut and I can finally breathe again. I put on my headphones and I start walking towards the party which is just few blocks away.
I walk to the house where the party is at and I open the front door. I go to the living room and I see Jackson standing near a window, sipping beer. He looks concerned.
"Hey." I say as I walk up to him.
"I might have been wrong." He says and looks at me with a worried look.
"About what?"
"Drugs. Jake and drugs."
"Huh?"
"Look." He says and points his finger to the kitchen where Jake is talking to someone. "You see that dude he is talking to."
"Yeah?"
"That's Ryland. We hung out a lot when we did drugs together. After Jake quit using, he stopped seeing those guys. But now he is here."
"But maybe he just happens to be here." I say, doubting my own words.
"I don't think so."
"So... What now?" I ask.
"Let me talk to him. If he used once, he will tell me about it, but if he is using again he will lie for sure."
"I think I'm going home." I say quietly.
"Already? I mean, I could be wrong."
"I just feel a bit weird. Just talk to Jake, alright?"
"I will."
I walk out of the party and I call Joanne and I tell her everything.

Hey. Long long long LONG time no see. It has been a year and a half. I'm so sorry! :D
I definitely haven't been busy! This chapter just gave me a hard time and I'm still not completely happy with it. Actually I would loooove to edit this whole fucking story, but that would be so much work! :D Maybe someday.
I started eating antidepressants, ate them for a year and then I quit. Maybe those killed my inspiration, I don't know.
Well this year has been a rollercoaster and I hope you are all well!
But I'm back... Kinda. The next chapters are actually almost ready so maybe the next one will be up before 2021. x)
