Ok... so i know this will be ridiculously long and drawn out. I did a lot of revising to the order and ime line of my book so this is actually supposed to be more than just one chapter worth. Sorry! I hope everyone enjoys anyway... Book two finale!!! (Only one left!)
Milly:
I step out onto the porch, Kyra and Kurapika are sitting there together watching the sun come up. I feel a lot of pain well up in my chest. Seeing them sitting there and knowing that she wont be here much longer puts a pit in my stomach. My only choice right now is to ignore the pain.
“Good morning.” Kyra says sweetly. I look at her but I don’t respond. She smiles and her eyes are begging me to return it, her scarlet eyes.
I turn and walk back inside. “Hey Gon!” I holler. “You had better hurry, im ready to leave.”
“I’m coming, I’m coming!” Leorio cries as he comes crashing down the stairs.
“Slow down!” grandma cries, but its too late. Leorio trips on the bottom step and face plants into the rug. “Are you alright, Leorio?” she asks him.
“I see birdies.” He slurs.
“He’s fine.” I say. Then the others all race down to see what the commotion was. “Leorio did a face plant.” I explain.
“Again?!” Biscy exclaims. “Leorio, I thought once you mastered your Nen you would have at least a little more coordination.”
“I know.” He grumbles, “But at least now it doesn’t hurt when I trip.” We all shake our heads at him. Then I realize that every, except Gon, is down here.
“I’m going to see how much longer Gon will be.” I announce as I step over Leorio and race up the stairs. When I reach the steps that lead to the attic I stop for a moment. I concentrate and try to hear Gon’s thoughts. We have discovered that our ability only works in a heated moment when our mental powers are working full force, or, like right now, when we are near the other person and take the time to focus. Though I am concentrating I cant make out a single distinct thought, his mind is too jumbled. I pull the rope and lower the steps. I peer up into the attic and see that he is staring blankly out the window. I start getting a very concerning vibe from him. “Hey, are you alright?” I ask him.
He quickly wipes his eye before turning around. “Yeah I’m fine.” He says with a chuckle.
“Liar!” I say promptly. He looks at me in confusion. “I can hear most of you thought remember. You can tell me, what’s the matter?” I come nearer and rest on the window sill in front of him.
He sighs then lets it all out, “you know Killua and I have known each other only since about two years ago, but we became the best of friends in no time. Since I met him, it didn’t matter what stupid situation I found myself in, Killua was always there to set me straight. He would stop me from being reckless, help me make the right decisions, and when I screwed up, he was there to hit me in the back of the head and tell me to pull it back together. He has always been there for me.” He pauses and gets a very sad expression. “I have needed him constantly, since we met, to be my counterbalance, my wing-man as Leorio would say. There have been two times specifically that Killua has needed me to be there for him, and both times I let him down.” Tears begin to well up in his eyes. “the first time was during the final phase of the Hunter Exam, the second time was last year. And because of his family, he has always been concerned about whether he is capable of being a true friend to someone. But so far in our friendship, I have been the dead weight.” I can hear the anger taking over his voice as he tightens his fists. “It boggles my mind that anyone could convince Killua that he wasn’t a true friend, because he is a better friend than I am.”
