Y/n POV

My throat hurts as I run, faster than the wind. I'm surprised I haven't inhaled any flies yet, since I am sprinting and panting heavily.

The air is cold; brisk as I run. It slaps my skin like the punches Jack threw at Zach's face. I can't believe it.

"Run Y/n! Run!"

I squint my eyes to stop the tears from forming, not only from the freezing wind, but from my fear. I don't know where Jack is. He's gone.

I ponder my reason of running as I swerve through crowds of people, bolting straight to the park afterwards. It was safe there...right?

Tears escaping my eyes, I lob my backpack onto the climbing frame and sit onto the highest point, my legs hanging as helplessly as Zack's body was earlier...No, forget about it.

"What the fuck have you said to my girlfriend?! Your going to fucking pay for this!"

Jack's words repeatedly spun through my mind, aching my frozen brain.
The finger numbing conditions send shivers down my spine as I pull my jacket closer to my body, hoping to generate any kind of heat.
There's snow on the ground, its crunchy residue slowly turning to water beneath my fingertips.

I try to focus on the beauty of this winter wonderland. But I can't. I'm too scared.

"Why did you have to do this Jack?" I whisper to myself. My breath condensing as I continue to shiver relentlessly.

A small weight drops onto my cheek, and becomes lighter as it runs down to my chin, eventually disappearing. Why am I crying?

There's a few small children, and their parents in the misty distance. Happily building snowmen. There laughter echoes through the abandoned park, making a small smile grow onto my lips. Laughter really is the best medicine, I guess.

Smiling, I don't notice the sound of crunching snow, and the panting of another human, my focus is set on the happy children now throwing snow balls at each other.

"Y/n" someone whispers.

I snap from my gaze, looking over at the person. Their lip is bust open, a black eye possibly, and a few nasty scratches here and there. He looked a fucking mess.

"Jack" I whisper. "What do you want?" I stare back down at my hands, which are slowly freezing.

"Came to see if your okay" He smiles a little but I keep a straight face.

"You hurt him so much Jack. He did nothing wrong!" I yell and Jack frowns.

"He was onto you Y/n!"

"Was not! We were talking about the fucking biology test!" I stand up, my bum so numb I couldn't feel it.

Jack sighed, "You obviously weren't"

"Whatever Jack, I'm surprised he hasn't called the police yet" I smile sarcastically and as if I had planned it, a police car's sirens echo through the streets. "See, told you"

"Mmh" Jack nods. "He definitely called the police didn't he. Because the last time I checked he was unconscious!"

My eyes grow the size of golf balls and my jaw drops to the floor. He knocked him out?!

"You knocked him out!" I yell my thoughts, anger pumping through my veins.

"Yeah" Jack shrugged, as if it happened on the regular. "He's such a wimp" He laughs and I clench my fists.

I bite so hard on my jaw that I give up. I give up for fuck sake. What's the point?! He always does this. Getting into fights over something he doesn't even know about. I'm done.

"Get away" I spit, glaring at him.

"What?" He frowns.

"Get away from me!" I yell, grabbing my bag and jumping off the climbing frame.

"Wait..Y/n" Jack stutters, following me as I open the gate to leave.

"I said get away!" I cry, closing the gate before he could follow after me.

"Where are you going?"

"Away from you. I'm done" I pick up my pace as he also exits the park.

"What?" He frowns and I stop in my tracks, spinning to face him.

"I'm done Jack" I wave my arms around. "I can't do this anymore".

"Y/n, baby-"

"No Jack, just leave me alone"

"Y/n-"

"This is over! I'm done you idiot! Get away from me!" I yell as he takes a step closer, my body flinching away from him.

"Y/n don't...I'm sorry!" He shouts after me as I spin and run away. The snow crunching beneath my frozen feet.

I pant, and pant, and pant. Finally making it off the snowy landscape and onto the pavement beside the road.

"Y/n!"

I shake my head, running a million miles per hour. I said we're done Jack.

"Don't go I'm sorry baby! Please!"

I can't. I can't leave. Him. He is my only escape from life.
"No Jack I'm done!"
I'm not. I'm not done!
Turn around Y/n...TURN AROUND.

"Jack" I stop. "Jack?"

I see his figure, stopped halfway up the street. He's just a misty blur. A misty blur of everything I could never give up.

"W-Wait...Jack...wait" I breathe, my throat tingling.

"Come back"
