A week. How it passed. Don't ask. Everything was same but the difference was her absence. I wanted to talk to her for five seconds. Have a glance of her face.
Life goes on, to a new day when my phone rang. It was Kyle.
"Hello." I said.
"Hey, can you come and takeover." The voice commanded.
"A month is not over yet. So, why?"
"Willow," he said, Oh no. "She is in depression so I want you too talk to her as she is not talking to me."
Depression? "What did you do to her?" I asked sternly.
"I didn't do anything. You just come and take care of her." The call ended.
I rushed to her apartment. After I rang the bell two times, the door opened and Stuart had his finger pressed to his lips motioning me to be quiet. "What are you doing here?" I whispered.
"Ask her." He pointed to Willow. She sat as still as a statue, her face was pale. Her eyes were wet and shiny with tears. Hair was messy.
"Willow?" I whispered touching her cheek and wiping the tear with my thumb. "What happened?" He sounded concerned like he always do. I broke into a loud sob as he hugged me. I continued to cry as he kept muttering, "Everything will be alright."
"My mom." I whispered in between the cry. Then it struck to me.
"Tell me what happened." I said. She started:
"It was a morning like no other. I was having breakfast with Kyle when my phone rang. It was the police.
"Is this Willow Sanderson."
"Yes it is."
"Your mother and her husband were involved in a car accident they didn't survive." Everything had became a blur only one thought was on my mind: my mother had died. "Where do you live, ma'am?"
I told him the address and they arrived in no time with Stuart. They told us that they both had made a will. That all of the property goes to me after them."
I finished my narration as he looked at me with sympathy like always. "I am so sorry." He said.
"How could life be so cruel with me?" It never has been so cruel.
"I will give you some space." She nodded as I got up, "C' mon, Stuart."
"Where are we going?"
"Just come."
I and Stuart walked around the compound as I told him about Willow losing her memory. All he said was, "Oh."
"Tell me, did the other guy talk to her?" I asked.
"It happened five days ago and she didn't talk to any one not even me. So much shock." He explained, "She only talked to you."
"Hey Stuart do you have any idea to make her happy?"
"You know how to make her happy. I don't. But I do have an idea."
I walked to the kitchen counter to have a glass of water. I wiped the tears and leaned against the counter in deep thought.
Just then Stuart came in with his hands at his back. "Can you make me a sandwich? I am starving."
"Yeah." I said in a low voice. I turned to face the cabinet and took out a plate. As I reached for the bread, I felt something wet on my neck. I looked at him, he had a water gun and was laughing. "How dare you?" I ran after him. Such a spoilt brat he is he took me out of the apartment, out to the compound.
On my way, I found a water gun filled with water. Great. I grabbed it and shooted water at him.
We both were in the green compound, with trees scattered all over the field. The sky was in the shade of soft orange signalled that it was almost sunset. I didn't know that there were many children in this whole area.
All of them, surrounding me, with their colorful guns pointing at me. "Put your gun down." Justin was also there with his gun pointed at me. He knows how to cheer me up.
"Not a chance," I muttered and the water shooted from my gun towards him. All of the children started shooting towards me.
I ran, trying not to get hit. It was then, the sprinklers started working. It was like as if it was raining without clouds.
The game went on and everyone was drenched. The joyous sounds filled the air. Laughs, cheers you name it. It was synonymous to all of the fun I had with him.
Before nightfall, everyone went into their homes. Stuart, Justin and I were soaking wet due to the water. Today, was the best day ever.
I slept as soon as my head had hit the pillow. Willow was fast asleep, I turned the light off and covered her with a blanket.
Before leaving I pressed a kiss to her forehead and whispered, "Goodnight."
As I went out Kyle asked, "How do you manage to lighten up her mood?"
"Be childish." Is all I said.
