H.
"You drove her home last night?" I quaver. "Did you like..touch her or anything?"
"No. God, no. Harry, you're out of your mind." AJ chortles and sits next to me in the recording booth. "I would never." His voice becomes serious.
"Yeah, I mean. It wouldn't matter or anything. I think you guys would be a great couple." I lie and twist my rings around on my fingers.
"Harry," AJ scoffs and rolls his ryes. "I know you like her."
I lift my head up to look at him. "We're just friends." I proclaim and scribble some lyrics down in my notepad.
"Mhm," he hums. "Sure you are."
"We are." I stammer. AJ grips my shoulder and shakes me a bit.
"You guys haven't kissed?" He prys. "Or touchy feely of any sort?"
"No. I told you. We're just friends." I add. "I have someone in mind anyway."
"What's her name?" AJ coaxes, nudging me as he takes a bite of his Bagel Bite.
"I'm not saying." I mutter and continue to write. AJ snatches thd pen and paper away, throwing it on the floor. "Hey!"
"Let me guess, her name starts with E and ends in Y." He begins. "And her name rhymes with memory."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"Okay fine!" I decide and bite back on my words. "I kinda sorta maybe sometimes like her."
He shakes me vigoriously, his mouth full of food. "I knew it!" He yells, his voice muffled from the bagel bite. He chews for a moment and then smiles. "Take action, Harry. Tell her."
"I can't." I shake my head. "What if she doesn't like me back?" I frown and look at him. He rolls his eyes.
"You're Harry Styles. Of course she does." He admits, nodding while gripping my shoulder."And she's Emery," he continues. "The self-proclaimed 'not interested' girl who secretly has a massive crush on Harry Styles."
"She wants to be friends." I reply blandly, fidgeting with my rings again.
"I see how her face brightens and how she blushes when she hears your name." AJ says quietly. "Go for it."
I chuckle and turn my head towards him. "You're so cheesy."
"No." He shakes his head. "I'm cupid."
I grin but it is quickly replaced with a frown. "I'm not telling her. Not now."
"Fine." He glares. "But you should call her at least, I think she's missing you."
"I-uh just let me finish this song." I stammer and pick up my notebook, flipping to the page I was on.
"The one you wrote about her?" AJ wriggles his eyebrows.
"It's not about her."
"Let's go over the lyrics then, shall we?" AJ takes the notebook and scans his eyes across the page. I try and snatch it away from him, but he turns away from him. I groan loudly. "Carolina-where she previously lived. Townes- her last name. She's a good girl. She's all I think about." He mumbles random lyrics from the page and I rip the notebook from his hands.
"Okay, fine. She inspired it, but it's not about her." I lie.
"Same thing." He shrugs.
"Same thing." I imitate him and leave the booth to catch some fresh air outside.
