Eve's POV

I sat with Tanya and Carly in my flat, talking to them about my home visit and deciding whether I should talk to my family. My mum was definitely on block list in my contacts and I had various missed calls from my dad, Lisa and Eric.

"Damn, Auntie really said that to you? I mean I knew you guys had differences but this is just wrong, man" Tanya said, shaking her head. My mother's words and her stare continued to haunt me for the past few days. It stung me every time I remembered that day.

"Well, I know where we stand now," I said in a monotone voice trying to mask the pain that I felt talking about the situation.

"I'm sure that in time you'll be able to rekindle your relationship with her when everything dies down," Carly said. I side -eyed and she put her hands up in defence.

"Let's talk about something else. Carly, did you get to do the piece on sexual harassment in the workplace?" I asked, looking at her.

She flipped her hair to the side and sighed in disappointment, I knew that Mike probably didn't approve it.

"You know that Mike didn't approve it because there were too' many feminist pieces on that subject already' ". She said, mocking him. I understood her struggle since it took a bit of time for Mike to really acknowledge and approve of my Project Liberty article.

We continued to talk and hang out, blocking out our individual woes.

Marco's POV

Her scent was still here, following me around and I couldn't take it anymore. It had been a good month since our break-up and I couldn't stop thinking about her. Took so many cold showers to rid myself of my desire for her but nothing worked.

I picked my vase and threw against the wall and turned my office upside, flipping my desk over. I panted heavily looking around to see the mess I created. Amanda came running in, trying to reason with me. I looked at her deranged then I realised something.

I had known for a while that Amanda wanted me and this was a chance to burn the bridge between me and Eve once and for all. I charged towards Amanda, grabbing her waist close to me, kissing fervently. Her tiny balled up fists hit against my chest but I just tightened my grip.

I felt a knee hit me hard in the groin area, I released my grip and fell to knees. I clutched my groin which was throbbing with pain.

" I know I've wanted you for a while but not like this. It's clear that you still love her and you need to stop being a bitch. Go and get her back" She yelled, pointing to the door.

"It's not worth it, Amanda. She betrayed me and I can never let her in ever again" I gritted, getting up from the floor, standing in front of her.

"I can't believe I'm saying this but you're going to regret it, Marco." She said, walking out of the office.

I sat on my chair, thinking about what had just happened.

....................................................................

I came back from lunch to see my office was clean again like before. I settled down, looking over the potential small businesses. There were a few that caught my eyes: a gym inspired restaurant and a small natural hair shop.

I was impressed with the roster of potential we had been sent. There was a knock on the door and Amanda walked in. There was an awkward silence.

I stood up behind my desk, ran my fingers through my hair whilst I had one hand in my pocket. I lifted my gaze towards her.
