I don't feel like talking to anybody at all at this point in the day. There are ten more minutes left of gym and I am hiding behind the bleachers, curled up in a ball. I had been sitting here for half of the period and nobody even noticed that I was gone.
I laid my head on my knee and just sat quietly as I heard people passing by the bleachers. One of the voices sounded like Alyssa. It turned out it was Alyssa. I listened in.
"What happened to Hannah?" a girl asked.
"I don't know... I haven't seen her all day.." she replied.
"Is it true that you were dating her?"
"Yeah I was..."
"Why aren't you anymore?" Alyssa sighed and I heard her holding back sobs.
"I don't know.. what I did was stupid though.."
"What did you do?"
"I kissed a guy in front of her to make people stop making fun of us.. I am so tired of it. I really like Hannah, but everyone is so against us and I don't know what to do."
"Well... it doesn't matter what people say. Do whatever makes you happy."
"She makes me happy..."
"Then what is the problem?" Yeah, what is the problem Alyssa? You kissed some guy and really hurt me.. I sure hope you regret it.
"I just... I think I might be in love." Alyssa says. My mouth drops open. Alyssa? in love with me? Was I hearing this right? What if she was just saying it as a cover up? I kept listening in.
"Really?" the girl exclaimed. I could tell she was surprised herself. "Then, if you still love her.. then apologize to her. Do you see her after school?"
"I live with her. I have to for a few months. But i don't mind it the least bit" she said with a giggle. I almost giggled myself but I remembered I was still behind the bleachers. "I just wish she was here right now.." Alyssa added quietly, then they both walked off.
I was confused. I had no idea what to do now. I was still really angry and heartbroken but yet, I had a soft spot for Alyssa. I stayed curled up in a ball for the rest of the gym period.
In the locker room, I was changing into my regular clothes when a girl came up to me. I figured it was the girl who Alyssa was talking to because when she spoke, I recognized the tone.
"Hi, you're Hannah right?" she asks. I nod my head. She sticks out her hand.
"I'm Kaylee" she addresses. We both shake hands and then she clears her throat. "I heard about what happened between you and Alyssa this morning.."
"Who hasn't?" I said with a sarcastic laugh. She furrowed her eyebrows at my sarcasm but continued.
"I was talking to her earlier in gym and she told me about how she is really super sorry.. she told me that you two live together at the current moment."
"Yeah we do.." I reply, putting my lock back on my locker.
"Well.. I think you should take into consideration that what she did was a mistake." she says, twiddling her thumbs. Again, I laugh.
"Ya think?" I blurted out, a little rudely. Kaylee didn't seem bothered by it but she did furrow her eyebrows again. She reminded me of a mouse for some reason.
"Just talk to her.. you should apologize." she says. I didn't even do anything! This girl clearly didn't know her facts and Alyssa must have told her to talk to me about this. Why can't Alyssa do it herself?
