Chapter 9: The Demon of the Mist

The morning seemed like a peaceful time. A soft breeze blew through trees as their leaves rustled creating a soothing sound. This was also the time where the four Genin were sound asleep, without a care in the world. (Y/n) and Naruto shared the same bed, trying to waste less space in the already cramped room. Sakura had scooted over to the Uchiha's bed, in hopes that they could sleep together. Sasuke subconsciously pushed the girl away as he slept, but that didn't stop her. She softly cradled and hugged his hand, causing a slight frown to appear on the Uchiha's face.

As the breeze grazed the surface of the small Hatake's cheeks, she began to awaken. Her eyes slowly opened as her violet orbs shimmered with the warm red sunrise. She sat up and looked beside her, seeing her brother sleeping brought a smile to her lips, so did the Uchiha's predicament. (Y/n) stood up and walked over to the other two Genin. She carefully released Sakura's grip on the hand of the boy and placed in on his chest. As she was about to stand back up, Sasuke grabbed her wrist and pulled her down. "H-Hey!" (Y/n) yelled in a whisper, not wanting to wake the other two up. "Morning, Uzumaki," Sasuke said with a smirk curving his lips. "Ya, mornin' Uchiha," she said as a pout puffed up her cheeks. Sakura's eyes fluttered open as she began to notice the warmth of Sasuke's hand leaving her grasp. As her eyes adjusted, they quickly shot open when she caught sight of what was in front of her, only a few feet away. (Y/n) was resting on top of the Uchiha's chest as they both closed their eyes, one of them smirking in victory while the other pouted and furrowed her eyebrows. The pink-haired girl quickly became angry, sad, frustrated and confused. These emotions were fuming up inside her that she could do nothing but stay quiet. "How long do you plan on keeping me like this..." (Y/n) mumbled. "Hn, just a little longer," he responded, pulling her closer than they already were. "Wouldn't you rather do this with Sakura? Pretty sure she would enjoy this a lot more than I am." "She'd just be squealing and annoying..." "Eh, beggars can't be choosers," The Hatake said looking up into Sasuke's eyes. This was the last straw for Sakura, who was red with rage. "(Y-!!" she began to yell until (Y/n) lunged towards the girl. "SHHH, YOU"RE GONNA WAKE UP NARU!!" She hissed in a whisper, only making Sakura furrow her eyebrows. The sleeping blonde began to squirm in his blankets as whimper noises emanated from the back of his throat. "Oh no..." (Y/n) got off of the mad Haruno and crawled to Naruto's side. She lightly placed her hand on his forehead and closed her eyes. 'Damn it. It's a nightmare...' 'Do that one trick you used on him' 'It's been so long. I'm not sure if I even remember what to do.' 'Just try.' 'Alright...' The Hatake kept her eyes closed and grabbed one of Naruto's hands. "What are you doing..?" Sasuke said quietly as he stood next to the girl. "He's having a nightmare. It's a trick I used to do when we were little," she said as she opened her eyes slightly, looking down at the knucklehead. "When you were little? But you just met him a few weeks ago," Sakura said looking over her shoulder. "Y-yeah... Guess so," she said as a smile slightly curved her lips. The three Genin looked down and saw Naruto give a small smile as he still slept. "There. He's all better." (Y/n) tucked him in and, without thinking, she kissed his forehead. A cheeky smile appeared on Sakura's face. She nudged the other girl's shoulder, as means to grab her attention. "Ne, (Y/n)-chan~ You seem to be fairly close with Naruto there. I think you two would make a cute couple~" At the sound of those words, (Y/n) and Sasuke's eyes widened in pure disgust. Unknowing of her two teammates' relationship, Sakura happily skipped out of the room, believing she had been successful in playing matchmaker. Sasuke's eyes squinted as his face was visibly purple trying to hold the vomit that threatened to spew out while (Y/n)'s eyebrow twitched in annoyance, her face also tinting purple. "I don't know where she comes from or who taught her, but where I'm from, incest isn't really encouraged..."

"I'll be back!" (Y/n) waved at her father and the other two Genin. "Meet us at the bridge!" Sakura said as she held both hands to the sides over her mouth. "Yeah, got it!" she yelled back as she walked away from the pier.
