Chapter 2: Goodnight

Today. Today is the last day she would be spending with her brother. She doesn't know if she'll ever see him ever again. Even as she slept, no matter how tired she was, she still heard the same words ringing in her head. 'No longer your brother' 'Stranger'  These exact words kept haunting her. Not even in the realm of dreams could she escape her inevitable fate, to be separated from her only family, her brother.

"H-hey wake up." A voice kept calling to her. " (Y-y/n). Wake up!" The voice grew louder. "Please, wake up! (Y/n)!" The voice sounded like they were on the verge of tears. 

  (Y/n)'s eyes slowly opened only to see her big brother and tears framing his face. She quickly sat up and held her brother's shoulders. "Naruto, what is it!? What's wrong!?" (Y/n)'s face now had worry and fear written all over it. That's when she felt tears running down her face. "Y-you were crying and screaming in your sleep..." Naruto said trying to stop himself from crying. That's when the words came back to her head. They weren't whispering this time, they were yelling. Causing her to hold her head in pain as more tears escaped and ran down her cheeks. (Y/n) was caught by surprise when Naruto pulled her into a hug. "It's alright (Y/n)... I'm here for you. I'll always be there for you," Naruto said trying to calm her down. (Y/n) just held on tighter. "T-thank you... Big brother," She said as tears flowed down her face.

"Come on, Naruto!" (Y/n) yelled as she pulled her big brother by the hand through the streets of Konoha. She looked back and saw a big grin on his face. They were surrounded by people who hated them with all their heart but (Y/n) wouldn't let that get in the way of having the best last day with big brother. The two happy children ran through the crowd of villagers without a care in the world. Before they both knew it, they had arrived at the third training grounds. "Over here!" She said to Naruto leading him to the memorial stone. In front of the memorial was a large box. (Y/n) stood next to Naruto as she told him to open the box. His face lit up with joy and had a mischievous grin plastered on his face. Inside the box were four cans of paint, all different colors, with two brushes and two Anbu masks. "Here, put this on," (Y/n) handed a silver ring with the Uzumaki crest embedded into it to her brother, putting on a similar one on. "What's this?" He asked holding the ring up and looking through it. "Just put it on, dummy," She said as she pouted. As he put it on (Y/n) took his hand and placed her other hand over the ring. "What are you-?" Questioned Naruto but was interrupted when his sister's hand along with both rings started to glow with chakra. "There," (Y/n) said as she put his hand down. "Now say 'ramen'," She told him. "Ramen..?" Naruto said with confusion. "Now look at your hand." She continued. As Naruto looked down to where his hand should have been. "What the-!?" He continued to look down at where his legs and body should have been but they were gone as well. "Am I a ghost!? Did I die!?" Naruto questioned as he started to panic. "Relax, you're just invisible. Say ramen again," She explained. "R-ramen!" Naruto panicked. He looked down in less than a second to make sure he wasn't a ghost and his expression held nothing but panic. After seeing his reaction, (Y/n) broke down laughing as tears rolled down her cheeks. "H-hey! It's not funny, (Y/n)!" Naruto retorted. "Alright, alright, I'm sorry." (Y/n) said as she wiped a tear away. "What's it for anyway?" Naruto asked as he looked at the ring. "Alright, lean in," she said waving her hand towards her. "Someone could be listening," (Y/n) said as she began to explain the plan. 

"Alright, let's do this!" Naruto exclaimed as the siblings picked up their paint, brushes, and masks. Both children ran to the entrance gates of the village with pure excitement filling them up. (Y/n) and Naruto both placed their Anbu masks on as they stood at the entrance of Konoha, which started to alarm the two ninjas that were on duty, Kotetsu and Izumo. "Hey! What are you kids doing!?" Questioned Izumo. (Y/n) giggled and looked at Naruto. As both Kotetsu and Izumo walked up to them, the siblings held hands and both yelled, "RAMEN!" The sudden cry of ramen left the two ninjas in confusion as they stopped in their tracks. Before they knew it, a random burst of smoke had appeared where the two children stood. As they tried to sense any chakra nearby, Kotetsu looked at the surrounding buildings wide-eyed. Izumo noticed the strange expression on his best friend's face he looked at the direction Kotetsu looked at and was met with a colorful sight. They both stared at the village in shock as bright colors began to cover the dull colors that the village had. But the colors seemed to have no source. It was as if they were drawing and splattering themselves all over the wall. Random strokes and splatters of paint just kept on appearing. The two men had begun to suspect the two children and quickly ran to the Hokage's office.
