The next morning came and Paul woke up to be next John in the same bed. He rubbed his eyes and looked around and to the clock. It read 9:31. "Oh shit! School!" He climbed over John and ran to the dresser. John had woken from Paul's excitement. "Paul?" Paul looked over. "John! We are late. Do you know that?" John chuckled. "Yeah. We are going to take the day off, Paul. Besides, it wouldn't hurt to miss one day. Ye father just died yesterday and I think you need today off, Paulie." Paul thought about it. John was right. He couldn't focus on school today with what happened yesterday. It wouldn't work. "Yeah, John. You're right. I'm going to go check on mike." John gave a nod as Paul went across the room. He knocked on mike's door. "Come in." Paul opened and walked over to mike. "Mike. I think we both needed this day off of school. Are you still upset about dad?" He nodded. "Well, we will go take a walk later. Okay?" Paul earned a smile from mike. "Is John going?" "If you want him to, yes." "Yes! I do." Paul smiled. He was so thrilled that mike liked John. He found himself smiling at mike and then shutting the door. Paul went down to the kitchen and fixed himself a little tea. He couldn't help but remember how he was greeted by his father every day sitting that table. He looked, staring at the table thinking about his dad and sat down enjoying his tea. John came down the stairs. "Hey paulie. You doing okay?" "Yeah. I'm fine." He took another sip of his tea and looked up at John. "I told Mike that we could take a walk later. He seems to really like you, John. I can tell." John turned around quickly. "Really?" Paul nodded. "Does he know about us?" Paul hesitated. "No. Not really." John gave a sad look. "Oh. I see." "I will tell him. I just didn't think he would understand at an age such as his." John understood. "I know, Paulie. It's all okay." Paul felt a bit bad but shrugged it off. "I'm going to call aunt Mimi and let her know that I'm okay. She would like to know. I'll be right back, Paul." "Okay." John grinned and vanished. Paul started to wonder deep into the thoughts that entered and left his brain. Bad thoughts. He remembered the way his dad had beat him for staying out later than usual or even staying in his room for too long. He got stuck on the thought of his dad punching him repeatedly and mike witnessing every little thing and crying. Paul had broken down and cried. He just keep imagining his dad spitting in his face and telling him  that he would always hate him. Paul had tears rush down his face. He screamed and cried. John heard Paul from upstairs and came rushing down the stairs. "Paul??? What's wrong, love?" He rushed over to Paul and held him in his arms rocking him. "Calm down, Paulie. I got you. Don't worry." Paul cried into John's arms. John started singing a song that he had written for him but had never got around to singing it to Paul. This was the perfect opportunity to sing now. John's voice was nice to Paul's ears. Paul's crying started to disappear as John followed his words. Paul couldn't believe what he had been hearing. John's voice. It was so nice and soft. Paul looked up at John admiring him. Finally, the crying got softer. "Are you okay, Paul?" John looked with worried eyes down at Paul. He then smiled and nodded. They then kissed. Mike came down the stairs catching Paul and John in the moment. Paul broke the kiss. "Mike?" He walked over towards them. "Are ye guys more than just friends?" Paul started to get more and more nervous by The minute. "Yes mike. We are." Paul said. "Don't hate me, mike." Although, mike didn't get upset or mad towards the two. Instead, he just ran over towards to the both and have them a hug. "I would never hate the people I care about." Paul started to tear up once more. "Thank you mike. Now let's go take that walk you have been wanting to go for. Go put on your jacket." John stood up holding out a hand for Paul as Paul smiled and took it. The three had gotten properly dressed for the chills from the air outside and closed the door. Paul had a big trench coat with a scarf and gloves. John had a leather jacket and mike wore a big feather coat. The three walked. "So mike. Are you doing good in school?" John looked over. "Yes. I got an A on my spelling
Test, John. It was so easy." Paul smiled at mike. "It's dangerous. Mike. Hold John's hand so you don't get lost." Mike did as told as took John's hand. The three seemed to be a small happy family. The air out was amazing. The wind felt good. Mike looked up to John. "John." John turned away from Paul to look at little mike. "Yes mike?" "I like you, John. I think you are much more better than me dad. You treat Paul good and you are nice to the both of us. Thank you, John." John felt those words speak to his heart. He knelt down. "Mike. This is my job. I'm gonna take care of the both of you. I will keep you two safe. So don't worry about anyone hurting you." Mike liked the guitar also. John knew it from what Paul had told him. John pulled something out of his pocket. "Mike. I want you to have this." It was a black guitar pick that was once played by the famous chuck berry. "Me dad have me this when I was about your age. I want you now to have this." Mike looked at it with wide eyes and gave John a hug. "Thank you, John." John nodded. Paul smiled.
