Maddie and Sirena

Friday came like a snap of fingers. This was honestly the day I was dreading. I didn't really want to go to the Royal Ball/Banquet.....it doesn't really seem that appealing to me.
The dancing, the corsets I was supposed to wear, the poofy cupcake-like dress...
No thank you.
The bell for lunch rang and I made my way to my locker. I opened it and stuffed my books inside. Once I closed it, Aj was standing there, leaning against the locker next to mine.
"You scared me!" I say, putting my hand to my heart. Aj looked down and chuckled a bit.
"Sorry. Not my intention," he says. I just roll my eyes and smile.
"Shall we?" He asks, offering me his arm.
"We shall," I answer, linking my arm with his. The two of us head to the lunch line and buy our usual food-hamburgers and French fries-and started walking to our usual table. The table which everyone now calls the 'outcast' table.
"So, the ball is today," I say, trying to make conversation.
"Do you think we'd be able to ditch in the middle of it?" Aj asks.
"Nah, the guards will be everywhere. No way we'd be able to get away with it," I say.
"Fair point, fair point," he says. Then as we continue eating, two girls sit at our table, dropping their trays down rather noisily. I look to Aj who just shrugs.
"May we help you?" I ask.
"So you two are the rebels that everyone's talking about!" The girl on the left says.
"Um....." I stammer.
"We were wondering when'd we wouldn't be the only ones that hate this school! And you guys are American too!" The girl rambles on. The girl next to her rolls her eyes and cups her hand over her chatty friend's mouth.
"I'm Maddie. And talkative over here is Sirena," Maddie says, then taking her hand down.
"I am not talkative! I just like hearing myself talk! And besides, who wouldn't?" She asks, 'modestly' flipping her short, dark brown hair.
"Whatever," Maddie says, rolling her eyes. "I apologize about her. She was just released from the asylum and I was assigned as her caretaker."
"You weren't supposed to tell anyone!" Sirena mockingly gasped.
"Wait wait wait," I say, causing the three people at the table to look at me. "So you guys wanna be friends with us?"
"Well, you guys don't seem stuck up or bratty like the rest of these snobs. So yes, we would like to be friends with you guys," Sirena smiles. I look to Aj and back at them.
"Okay," I say.
"Okay," the two repeat in unison.
"So are you two going to the Royal ball tonight?" I ask them and they snort.
"Psh, as if we would be allowed in there. Only our parents and the snobbiest of the snobby are allowed in there," Maddie says.
"We could get you two in," Aj says and I nod.
"Yeah, we could get you on the list," I say.
"Really?" They as hopefully.
"Yeah! And you have to wear dresses there but bring pajamas so we could change out," I say.
"Awesome!" They excitedly say.
"Yeah! And I'll call in right now to get you guys on the list," I say. Then I grab my phone and dial Tulip's number.
"Hello?" She asks.
"Hey Tulip! It's Jezamine. Would you mind putting two names on the list for me?" I ask.
"Of course not! What're the names?" She asks. I bring the phone to the two.
"Madison Francisco and Sirena Freitas," Sirena says.
"Alright! I'll have those names on the list right away," Tulip says.
"Thank you so much!" I tell her, hanging up.
"My Grandma is most likely gonna make me say hi to some people but after that, we can sneak up to my room and hang out," I say and the girls nod.
Click-Clack Click-Clack Click-Clack
The sound of heels on the floor comes closer and closer to us. We look at the group of three strutting towards us and all roll our eyes in sync.
"Well well well," says the girl in the middle (the same one from last time). "If it isn't the outcasts and the rebels."
"Well well well," Maddie mocked. "If it isn't Queen clown and her tacky makeup friends."
The three girls dramatically gasp, grabbing the attention of anyone who wasn't already watching us.
"You take that back!" The girl on the right says.
"What? I'm sorry I couldn't hear you over those loud colors!" Sirena says.
"Well...uh...I-"
"Great comeback," I retort.
"Listen outcast-"
"That the best you can do? Outcast? What a horrifying name!" Aj mocks.
"You losers are going to regret this!" The girl says with her heavy French accent.
"Listen you dimwit-"
"Nobody calls Paris Jade Anne Hope Lorenzo Marie Bailey Jacqueline III a dimwit!" She gasps.
"In the famous words of Zack Martin, nobody has the time," I say, quoting the one-well two-shows that mother let me watch.
"Who is Zack Martin?" She asks. Now it was our turn to gasp.
"You don't know the Suite life?" Sirena asks.
"Cody Martin? London Tipton? Cole and Dylan Sprouse? Ring any bells?" Maddie asks. All we get is a blank stare.
"That's just sad," Aj says quietly. (Btw not trying to insult anyone who hasn't watched The Suite Life of Zack and Cody or The Suite Life on Deck)
"Whatever," The girl says, strutting off. Once she was out of earshot, we all smiled at each other.
"That was awesome!" I say.
"You guys were awesome!" Maddie says.
"This is gonna be a good friendship," Sirena smiles. Aj and I both smile back.
I guess this school isn't all that bad...
