*At the Team 10 house*
The letter came to the house a few days later when Alex was just about to head to school.
"Jake!" He shouted, running back upstairs to show him the letter.
"Shouldn't you be heading to school?" Jake asked, raising his eyebrow.
"I know but we got a letter from Jez!" He exclaimed.
"What's it say?" Jake asked.
"It says' Hey guys. It's us, Aj and Jezamine. We wanted to let you guys know that we're okay. We're at the Isle of Aquae Vitae next to Vietnam. It's an Isle that I'm (Jez is writing by the way) the princess of." Alex started.
"She's joking right?" Jake asks.
"Hold on I'm getting there," Alex said. "'No, this is not a joke. Don't worry about us we'll be back soon. We miss you guys though. Jez and Aj.'"
"Is that all?" Jake asks and Alex nods. "Well then go to school p! Shoo shoo!"
"Alright! Alright!" Alex answered walking out the door. He arrived at school and went to the gym, looking for Jax. He finally spotted the raven haired boy and walked over to him.
"Hey Jax!" Alex cheerfully said.
"Ey, Mate. What's got you in such a cheerful mood?" Jax asks.
"Jezamine sent us a letter! She told us that her and Aj were okay," Alex said and Jax suddenly took a deeper interest.
"Did she say where she was?" Jax asks.
"Yeah. Some sort of Island next to Vietnam called the Isle of Aquae Vitae," Alex shrugged.
"Alright, thanks mate," Jax said.
*After school*
Jax walked back to the base like he usually did but this time, he walked straight into the boss's office.
"How dare you just walk in here without knocking?!" The boss asked.
"I bet you won't be taking that tone with me once you hear what news I have," Jax smirked.
"Unless it concerns my daughters, I don't care," He snarkily replies.
"Why, it does," Jax said, making the boss snap his head up.
"What news?" He asked, his attention all on Jax.
"But first, you need to pay up," Jax says, opening his palm.
"Alright," The boss said, heading over to his safe and opening it. He handed Jax a few stacks of money-all hundred dollar bills-and then closed his safe again.
"There, $90,000." He said.
"Alright." Jax said, swiftly counting the money. "She sent her friends a letter saying she was alright and that she was at some Island next to Vietnam named the Isle of Aquae Vitae."
"The what?!" The boss asked.
"You heard me," Jax replied, not wanting to repeat himself.
"That Roxanne..." The boss muttered to himself, bringing his hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose. "You may go now."
With that, Jax walked out to the base's garage. He got in his car and started driving to the hospital. When he arrived, he parked the car and headed in.
"Hey, Petunia. I have another payment for her," Jax said to the woman at the desk.
"How much is it this time, Jackson?" The woman asks.
"$90,000," he answered, handing her the money. She swiftly counted it and typed a few things into her computer.
"I'm afraid that you still need to pay $300,278 more dollars," Petunia said, giving him a small, sad smile.
"What?! I thought it was only $200,00!" Jax exclaimed.
"Yes it was, but she was having some complications so they needed to give her more chemo," She said and Jax sighed.
(Please note that this is information is all probably wrong....)
"Can I see her?" Jax asks and Petunia nodded.
"Same room as always," she said. Jax picked up his jacket that he put onto the counter and headed into the hospital. He arrived at her room and stepped in.
"Jax!" The girl in the bed exclaimed.
"Hey, sis," He said.
"What're you doing here?" She asks with a smile.
"Payment," he shrugged.
"How many times do I have to tell you, you don't need to pay! Mom and dad have got that covered!" She says. Jax smiled at his optimistic little sister.
"Yeah, Jem. I know," he smiled.
Jemma Romero is Jax's 13 year old younger sister, diagnosed with brain cancer at age 9. She went through many surgeries and chemotherapy and survived. She's been through hell and back and is still as optimistic as ever.
Jax's parents have both given up on the stress of having a child with cancer so they both just left. They literally just packed up their stuff and left while Jax was at school. While Jax was looking for employment, he stumbled upon Jezamine's father and began doing jobs for him in return for money. Jax couldn't bring himself to tell Jemma that their parents left so he kept it to himself, letting her believe that he just wanted to pay out of the courtesy of his heart.
"How was school today?" Jemma asked.
"It was fine," Jax answered. They both sat there in silence for a little.
"Jax?" Jemma asked.
"Yes?" Jax asked, not looking up from his hands.
"Why haven't mom and dad visited me?" She asks, making Jax look up.
"You know how busy they are," Jax smiled.
"Yeah I know," she says sadly.
"But hey, you've got me," Jax said.
"I know," she said, more happily. "I know."
