"Repeat after me, je m'aime"

No one repeated what she said.

"Good job, can anyone tell me what je m'aime means?"

The tone in her voice sounded like she was ready to just die there on the spot. One kid in the back of the class raised her hand.

"It means I love myself."

"Very good Britany, can anyone else tell me what je t'aime means?"

I hesitated and raised my hand

"Yes Jack?"

"I love you."

"Jack that is very inappropriate, I am your teacher!"

"Haha, very funny Cécile"

"I know, I'm amazing."

She sighed and continued the class. At this point I was just trying to ignore everything except Alex. He is all that I wanted to think about. I knew he was straight and him and me was probably never going to happen. But I still liked to think about it. It made me happy.

The first hour dismissal bell rang and all of the classes poured out of their room into their hallways. I waited a little to let the crowds die down. About two minutes of stalling I left the class room to go to my next class.

"I see you like the sweater."

I turned around and saw no one in the hallway except Alex. A big smile ran across my face when I saw him. His black hair that had to much hairspray in it swooped over his head. His green eyes were looking right at me and was wearing the same outfit as always. The red and white football letterman jacket over a black t-shirt with a pair of ripped jeans. He continued to walk towards me.

"Definitely, it's very nice. Thank you Alex."

"Anything to make up for yesterday. I still feel really bad."

"It's fine, I understand."

"I feel like you're lying."

"Just a little."

"I don't see what you don't understand. I'm the quarterback and I'm popular so I can't be seen being nice to one of the only good people in Hellgate High."

"Yep, sounds reasonable"

"I knew you'd understand"

We laughed. He said "well we should get to class". He looked around, hesitated then we made eye contact. He hugged me and the quickly walked away. I stood there speechless. He hugged me.

Was that normal. For a straight guy to hug another guy. Maybe it was just a friendly hug. Although I had only known him for two days now. Maybe I was just overthinking it. At this point I don't even know what I was thinking about. I just needed to go to my next class.
