*BEEP BEEP BEEP*
Morning routine again and I was dead. The sweater my dad gave me before he left had a tear in it and it was not fixable. I had no tears left in me so I just found something else to wear and headed to school. My mom didn't stop me on the way out, she was probably still asleep. I walked down the same sidewalk I walk every morning.
I thought about life, the sweater mainly. I thought about it until I heard loud footsteps behind me. I turned around and saw Alex sprinting towards me.
"What, are you going to tackle me again?"
He caught up to me and stopped
"No, here."
He handed me a pink bag that said happy Mother's Day in red bubble letters. I opened the bag and saw that he had bought me another maroon sweater. No matter how sweet it was, it couldn't replace the other one. It had too much sentimental value to just be switched out.
"You really didn't have to."
"No, I did. I was an asshole when you showed me nothing but friendliness. The truth is you are the only person I've talked to since 3rd grade who actually wanted to talk to me and not the fake person I created to look cool."
We looked each other in the eyes as both of us almost came to tears. His green eyes made me feel at home. I started to lean in, but then in the corner of my eye I saw Tweddle Dee and Tweddle Dum coming at us fast. I patted Alex's arm, said thank you, then walked away quickly.
The happiness I felt at that moment was possibly the best I've felt since I got the first sweater from my dad. I walked into the school and headed to the bathroom. changed out of the blue jacket I was wearing and into the sweater Alex bought me.
It made me feel comforted and warm. It felt like I was cuddled up with someone by a fireplace. I left the bathroom and went to Cécile's class.
I walked in and I was the first one in there. She greeted me and gave me the bell work for that morning. She was wearing a white blouse with a brown skirt with hippie designs on it. She also had a reddish cardigan that went down all the way to her knees. Her long black hair was in a messy bun type situation and had a very strangely colored headband on.
"How has your morning been Jack?"
"Wonderful Cécile, just wonderful."
I looked out the window and thought about him, the way he made me feel. He made me happy, in a sincere way.
