Chapter Eleven

      I walked into my seventh hour and Alex was in the front of the class teaching. He was teaching my Science class, what? Ok well I knew I was dreaming. Wait, if I knew I was dreaming I could control it, right? So I tried.

      First, obviously, I wanted to see if I could fly. I tried and it worked, I was floating. Ok what else did I want to do. How about a panda, I've always wanted a little baby panda for a pet. I thought hard about it and sure enough, a little panda appeared in my arms. I knew what else. I made everyone except Alex disappear, I put my panda down and floated towards him. I landed in front of him and leaned on him.

"Kiss me."

       He put his arms around my waist and pulled me in. Just as our lips were about to meet the dismissal bell rang. Fuck everything. Lucid dreams are sometimes a once in a lifetime thing and it just got ruined by the bell. Well I guess it's what I get for sleeping in class.

        I walked home alone because Kitty checked out and I didn't really know where Alex goes after school. He walked from the direction of my house to get there but he didn't walk back in that direction. Strange. When I got home my mom was no where to be seen.

"MOM!"

"MY BATHROOM!"

      I walked down the hallway to her bedroom and into her bathroom. She was standing by the sink looking in the mirror. She was finishing her makeup. I don't know how she did it but her makeup made her look just over twenty seven. She was wearing a dark blue dress that went down to her knees, and black 5 inch heels. She had straightened her hair and put it in a very tight bun.

"What's the occasion."

"I got asked out on a date. ME. I didn't ask him, he asked ME."

"Good for you girl. What's his name?"

"Kenny Baker."

"Baker? Does he have a daughter?"

"Uhh, yeah I think he mentioned a daughter."

"Cool, where are y'all going."

"Get this, we are going to Compère Lapin."

"Shut up! Isn't that the nicest place in town."

"You got it, and he said the meal was his treat."

"Damn, get you some."

     We laughed and then there was a ring on the doorbell.

"Could you get that hunny."

"Yep."

      I walked to the door and looked through the window. It was a tall, thin man with short black hair and brown eyes. He had a black suit on with a blue tie. I opened the door and greeted him.

"You must be Kenny."

"Yes I am, and you are."

"I'm Mia's son Jack, I believe I'm friends with your daughter Tallia."

"Ooooh, you're that Jack. Well thank you for being friends with my daughter. It means a lot to her."

"The pleasure is mine, why don't you come inside."

     I let him through the door and motioned him to the living room. I told him she would be out in a minute. I walked back to her bathroom and saw that she was done with her makeup and just staring in the mirror.

"Mom? Are you okay?"

"What? Oh yeah I'm fine. It's just I haven't dated in a while. I'm a little nervous, that's all."

"It'll be fun, he's waiting in the living room."

"Ok, here goes nothing."

      We walked back out to the living room and Kenny was amazed when he saw her. He stood up in shock.

"Mia, you look amazing."

"Thank you, you don't look to bad your self."

"We should get going, our reservation is soon."

    They walked out the door and towards his car.

"You bring her back no latter then ten thirty, you hear!"

       He gave me a little salut and said "Yes sir". I was so happy to see her get out of the house. She really needed this. Some social interaction. Now that I'm hearing myself I sound like I'm her mother. I was really hungry, shit. I made some easy mac for dinner because I'm basic, then went to bed. I took no time at all for me to go to sleep this time. I was out within two seconds of laying down.
