Chapter 3

Hollis' P.O.V.

I woke up ​with a smile across my face. Quickly, i got dressed and ran downstairs.

"Good morning Hollis!" Jane said.

"Good morning!" I replied. "The king will want a omelet and im guessing the prince would like pancakes. Im going to double check with both of them." I said walking upstairs where their rooms were. The king wanted an omelet like i thought. I walked down the hall to Kit's room. I knocked on the door and he opened it. Shocker, he was up! "Why are you awake?" I asked.

"I couldn't sleep because of that wonderful girl yesterday!" He told me.

"Oh." I replied.

"I cant eat this morning. Im too anxious." He said.

"You need to eat Kit." I told him.

"I cant eat! Im too anxious!!!!" He replied.

"Kit, im going to make you an amazing breakfast and you are going to eat it in front of me! Okay?" I asked.

"I'll try." He said. I walked out of his room and made his breakfast. They were pancakes with blueberries. I only make them on special occasions. I walked into Kit's room and handed him the trey. When i handed it to him, i sat right next to him and looked at him to make sure he would eat. ​"Blueberries?!" He asked. I laughed and nodded.

"You need to eat!" I scolded. Someone barged into Kit's room frantically.

"Your highness, it's your father! He has fallen very ill very quickly. It's time." The guard said. Kit jumped up and took my hand. We both ran into his room and saw him laying in bed not looking too good.

"Kit, may i talk to Hollis alone for a second?" He asked.

"Of course father." Kit replied leaving.

"Hollis," He said. "I don't have much time but i want to thank you for everything you've done for my family. It's not a secret how you feel about Kit. Everyone knows. But im going to tell him that he can marry for love. So if there is anyone i want him to be with who is a commoner, it is you. Please make sure you take care of my Kit. Make sure the kingdom is safe and run well." He told me.

"Your highness, he is taken with the other woman from the ball last night. Im not sure that will happen." I replied.

"If it does, promise you will make sure Kit has everything he deserves." He said.

"I will. Thank you." I told him.

"Good bye Hollis. I love you." He replied. I was shocked that he just said that.

"I love you too." I said hugging him. I walked out of the room and Kit went in. I sat in the chair in the hall to wait for Kit. He would be a mess. From behind the door, i could hear Kit crying. I peaked in the door and saw that the king eye's were closed and his arm was wrapped around Kit's back. Kit was laying in the kings lap. I walked inside the room and shut the door behind me. Kit looked up and saw me. I walked over to him and rubbed his back.

"Im not ready to run a kingdom! I miss my father!" He said sitting up and looking at me.

"Kit, it is okay! You will know what to do with the kingdom! There are so many people here for you!" I replied. Kit got up and moved over to me. He wrapped his arms around me and hugged me. I started to rub his hair like he likes. It calmed him down a bit.

"He told me that i could marry for love." He said.

"He told me that he would say that." I replied with a smile.

"I need to get married in the next year." He told me.

"Well you don't need to worry about that now. Let's just worry about what happened." I said. Kit nodded.

"My father gave me the ring that was my great grandmother's." He replied showing me the stunning ring.

"This is the most beautiful ring i have ever seen." I told him.

"Thank you." He said. I looked up at Kit and put my hand on his cheek. I wiped away the tear on his face with my thumb.

"Just remember im always here for you." I told him looking at his stunning blue eyes. He looked at me with a questioned look.

"Were you crying?" He asked.

"Yes! I was close to your father." I replied looking at my hands. Kit put his hand on my cheek and caressed my cheek with his thumb.

"We are going through this together. All we have is each other now." He whispered. Kit started to pull my face towards his. Is this happening?! I felt Kit's lips brush against mine. His kiss was so gentle and caring. Kit pulled away from me and smiled. "Let's go and tell the guards that my father has passes." He added. We walked out and Kit grabbed my hand. I smiled at him and his action. The guards were outside the door. "My father has passed." He said. The guards walked inside the kings room and took care of everything. Kit was still holding onto my hand.

"Kit, is there anything i can do?" I asked him.

"Be with me." He said.

"What?" I questioned.

"Please just stick with me for now." He replied kissing my cheek. I hope Kit will be okay.
