My Cinderella Story

Chapter 5

​Hollis' P.O.V.

"They're back!!!" We heard throughout the palace. Everyone was curious if he came back with the mystery woman.

"Hollis, go outside and help put the horses away!" Jane said.

"Okay?" I replied with a small laugh. I walked outside and the guards tied up the horses. My job was to take all of their saddles and other stuff off. Kit wasn't with everyone else. The captain helped put the saddle from his horse away. "How was the hunt?" I asked him.

"It wasn't a hunt, and you could of asked me if Kit found his girl." He replied.

"If you want to put it that way," I said.

"No. Kit didn't find the girl. We looked EVERYWHERE." The captain told me.

"Im sorry. I really am." I replied.

"Don't tell me. Tell Kit." He said nodding over to Kit. The captain walked away and left me with the horses. I put them away.

"How was it?" I asked him.

"We didn't find her." He replied jumping off of his horse.

"Im sorry." I said stopping and looking at him.
​"It isn't you're doing." He told me.

"I still am sorry. You really liked her." I replied taking his horse and walking it inside the stable.

"I do really like her. I need to move on." Kit said sitting down on a bale of hay.

"Don't stop looking if you don't want to." I told him while putting the rest of the horses away.

"We turned the kingdom upside down. My father told me that the woman of my dreams was right in front of me. That the key to my happiness is with me and i don't realize it yet." He told me. I smiled to myself at his fathers words.

"Maybe you just need time. If she loves you too, maybe she will come out of hiding and see you." I replied sitting next to him.

"I don't know. Would you like to go and grab lunch with me?" Kit asked.

"I can go make you something if you would like." I said.

"No. I mean, we can go into the kingdom and eat! I haven't done that ever!" He replied getting excited.

"What if people see you with me?" I asked.

"Don't worry about it. They wont know it's me. I will be right back!" He told me running inside. I put the rest of the horses away and waited for him to come back. I saw Kit running towards me in brown pants with holes in them, sandal's, an old blue button up shirt, and a brown hat on. His hair was all messed up too. "Can you put dirt on my face?" He asked me.

"What?" I asked laughing.

"Put dirt on my face! I look too clean!" He replied. I picked up some dirt from the ground and wiped it on his face. I started to laugh as he cringed.
​"You look great." I told him laughing.

"Stop laughing at me!!!" He replied laughing.

"I cant! You look different!!" I said.

"Let's go!" He told me. We grabbed our horses and rode them into the kingdom bareback. The kingdom was filled with people dancing and singing. I haven't been out here in a long time! I missed it.

"I missed coming here." I said.

"It is amazing here. I cant believe i haven't been apart of this!" Kit said in awe.

"It is wonderful here." I replied laughing. There was a man playing the flute and people dancing throughout the streets. Kit grabbed my hand and pulled me into the middle of the group of people dancing. "What are you doing?" I asked him laughing.
