The Joker shuffled through the bank, grasping onto Harley's wrist protectively as bullets flew around the room and screams of terror and pain were heard across the building. The sound of glass shattering echoed through the large bank as J's ears rang with the commotion. His eyes were just fixed on the metal vault. Sitting in the corner behind a counter. It looked tightly secured but nothing his goons couldn't handle.
Looking over his shoulder he could see the loyal henchmen causing a helpful distraction, be it on purpose or not, J wanted to use this to his advantage.
He brought his eyes to a few stray security guards hiding behind some tables. Taking his current position he knew they were too focused on the goons to even notice him. Raising his arm, aiming the barrel of his gun to the side of an unaware guard he shot. The bullet embedded itself into the mans skull, causing his body to fall immediately. Sadly this action alerted two more guards and J was forced to hide behind a pillar with Harley, held tightly to his stomach as shots were fired in their direction.
He reached his hand out for a brief moment. Firing blindly in the direction he could only hope the guards were situated.
The room suddenly fell silent. The screams had lowered and the guards had all been killed. Two henchmen had been set on crowd control. Making sure no cops were called until the last second. One of the henchmen rushed forward, sliding over the counter whilst ripping out the drill from the bag. He lined it up delicately and began to proceed with unlocking.
Frosts voice was heard while Harley and J came around from the pillar. "We have 1 minute boss." He said coldly.
"That's all the time in the world!" Harley giggled spinning on her toes, with her arms outstretched.
"Not at this pace," The Joker grumbled rolling his head on his shoulders with a low growl. "Hurry up!" He snapped to the goon equipped with a goat mask, working on the lock.
Everyone's attention was brought to the sound of squelching as Harley started to make mince meat of one of the unlucky guards heads.
"Harley we don't have time for that, now come back here." J ordered, narrowing his fiery eyes in her direction.
"But he moved," She kicked his hand. "See?"
The Joker rolled his eyes, catching an empty duffle bag as it was thrown in his direction. The sound of the vault door opening caused each henchman to rearrange into new positions. Some staying guard by the door while the rest stormed the vault. Piling all the cash into bags.
"Boss they're here!" Jonny bellowed opening fire on the cops outside.
The Joker picked up his pace before running out following Harley to Frost.
"Cover everyone while we fill up the vans." J muttered patting Jonny on the back. The bags were all finally in place, with just the loss of one henchman. But they're easily replaceable. Everyone jumped into the vans. The tires screeched as the smell of burnt rubber filled the back of the vehicles. They took off down the road with Harley and The Joker taking the rear.
All was going well and they were nearing the club until Batman decided to show up.
"Looks like Batsy decided to join the party," The green haired clown frowned in annoyance. "Guess we need a distraction.." He began to think.
With quick actions J grabbed a grenade from one of the duffle bags. He swung the back door open and threw it at the closest building he could see. The Orphanage.
"Puddin' no!" Harley shrieked but it was too late. The bottom half of the building went up in flames but the batmobile didn't stop. He continued to pursue them.
Just as they were turning a corner Harley leapt out, ducking in an alley. The Joker, with pure impulse leapt out after her, cursing at her in rage. He landed to the ground, sprinting to the alley before Batman could turn the corner.
The Joker wrapped his hand around Harley's throat as the black slim vehicle sped by. He held her up but she wasn't focusing on him. Instead her eyes were glazed over as she stared at the flames.
J dropped her. He figured she would just let it go, but being Harley she didn't, and in a flash she was gone. Racing to the building which was engulfed by the flames. He knew he couldn't stop her but maybe he could help her get out alive.
She shouldered her way through the front door. The smell of smoke caught her lungs and she began to cough viscously until J dragged her to the ground, where she recovered quickly.
She crawled her way around, dodging dead corpses of children and adults. Until the sound she was listening for was heard. The deafening scream of a baby.
