"Lucy?" The Joker asked raising a non-existent brow at the name she had chosen for this thing she knew nothing about. "You named it Lucy."
"I like the name Lucy. It's short and cute." She adored the name Lucy ever since she was a child. When she was nearing the age of 15 she vowed to name the first girl she ever had, Lucy. And a boy would be Jack.
"Well don't get too attached to it because we ain't keeping it for long. It was just a little slip up to our lives. But let me tell you now," He said sternly holding up a finger. "It's never happening again."
"But--" The Joker held up his hand to silence her. "Never again." He emphasised the word never just so she could get the message. He hated having to tell her things twice. She was always so persistent with things that it happened quite often. But sometimes her constant nagging paid off when he was too tired or impatient. It made him feel weak that she could cause him to change his mind about something he would be so sure about. It's like she had him wrapped around her little finger.
"I just think it's a good opportunity though. To get used to having a baby..." Harley whispered keeping her eyes low and away from his intense gaze.
"No. You know my answer to it, so just stop. It's not happening. Not with you, not now, not ever." He snapped viscously.
Harley gasped at his words. Not with you... Repeated itself over and over in her head as she felt her throat grow sore as a sharp pain struck her chest.
"Harley I didn't mean it like that.." He trailed off raising himself off the couch with one leg, resting his hand on the lowered wall beside him for support.
But it was too late. She had already disappeared from his view as she silently wept while running up the stairs.
"What am I supposed to do Frosty?" The Joker asked turning to the silent henchman who had just witnessed all this.
If any other henchman had seen this they would have been dead on the spot. But J had an unbroken bond with Jonny. It was almost like a brotherly bond. They fought and they shared advice as brothers do. Although the Clown of Gotham wouldn't like to admit it, he did have a lot of trust in his right hand man. If he did admit it people could use this as their advantage and blackmail or threaten Frost. But the Joker had a feeling his goon wouldn't spill a word. Either for being too afraid or for having just as much respect for J as the clown did for him.
Frost was caught off guard by his question. He was listening and could see Harley's point of view. He did have sympathy for her, but he also couldn't disrespect his Boss. "Well, you could try doing what she wants for a day or two?" He suggested with an unsure look.
"I guess. At least it would mean she'd stop bugging about having babies for a few weeks." He shrugged letting out a deep sigh thinking about what to do. He fell to the conclusion that there wasn't much options and that he would have to go with Frosts suggestion. "Thanks for the advice Jonny." He grinned clapping him on the back.
He limped away, wishing he had brought his cane from the back of the van. But it's not like Superman was going to swoop in and hand it to him now. (This has nothing to do with the plot so that's not going to happen.)
