Constant visits to the hospital are what Youngmin and Joo do before going on their usual ice cream or coffee dates.
Joo always seems to hide her pain with a smile and Youngmin never fails to sense that. Youngmin would stay twice a week at her place to keep her company while Tae and Minho are working at the barbecue restaurant. When she gets insomnia, he stays with her in her room. And no he doesn't crawl in the bed to cuddle with her, instead he sleeps on the floor and holds her hand that she hangs off of the bed for him.
"Youngmin?" Joo whispers as she still holds onto his hand.
He was close to falling asleep, but Joo's soft whisper woke him up instantly. It was always some type of drill for him when he hears her call his name.
"Yeah?"
"Thanks for being here."
"No problem." Though she couldn't see, Joo can sense Youngmin smiling as he replied.
The room grew quiet and Joo still never fell asleep. Her eyes would close for only a few minutes, but later on she'd fail to keep them that way. Flashbacks of the time she lost her parents flood her mind. The memories of how she stopped talking for a while. How she never brought herself together and excluded herself from her friends. She was only 5 and had was engulfed in such a dark world. It wasn't until she her grandma helped her little by little to become who she was today.
The thought of losing her was unacceptable, but who is she kidding? There's no other way. All she can do is constantly strengthen her grandma's mental health and keep her happy till the day she dies.
Then her thoughts switched onto Youngmin. Her mind was going insane.
She doesn't express her feelings openly to others. Youngmin has never seen that side yet. He's never seen Joo open up to the point she would actually tell how she truly feels inside because that's only one thing she can't do till this day. He's seen other crazy sides of her, but not this one.
Of course she likes him back, but she doesn't have the courage to let him know. When she said to him that she'll "think about it", she really wanted to just say yes. Joo wanted to be Youngmin's girlfriend, but couldn't even get the simple word "yes" out her mouth because it was that hard. Maybe because Youngmin was the first to ever do such thing. The first boy that cared for her. The first boy to ever open up to her. And the first boy to ever fall in love with her.
In her mind she'd always think "It's too good to be true." But in reality, it was the whole opposite. Youngmin was true at heart and Joo could feel his sincerity, yet she can't bring her damn self to open up.
A loud groan escapes Joo's mouth from her stressful thoughts, startling Youngmin. His body immediately sits up and he looks at Joo.
"What happened?"
Joo gasps and bows her head apologetically, telling him that it was nothing and to go back to sleep. Still confused, Youngmin listens and lays back down while still holding Joo's hand.
"Sometimes your actions are so ambiguous." Youngmin whispers along with a soft laugh.
A soft smile curls up on Joo's face and she finally closes her eyes.
"It's a habit."
