Sugawara's POV
We walked side by side in silence all the way to the schools front gate.
"Do you think those two will be okay to close up?" He asked quite loudly.
Surprised at the sudden voice, I turn to him quickly causing me to trip over my own foot.
"-Ah-shit!"
I was grabbed by the upper arms tightly and I landed on his firm chest.
My face was bright red but we both cracked up laughing.
"Hey wanna get some coffee before we head home?" I suggested.
His eyes sparkled, causing all shades of browns and golds to dance behind them.
"Sure. I know a place where they close real late."
So together, the two of us walked to town while chatting about anything and everything.
It was good. Being able to talk to him like we used to, I think, made my day.
"-so of course he'd jump off the roof nearly breaking his neck!"
"Hahaha. Your cousin sounds like a lot of fun!"
Daichi shook his head while laughing, "Don't be dumb! He's crazy! Always hurting himself. It's stupid."
Hearing those words made my chest tighten and tears prickle in the corners of my eyes.
Stupid? Does... does he know?
"-ga? Suga? You okay? You kind of switched off there... a-are you crying?"
I looked up where I saw his eyes shifting around searching for an answer.
"What? I-no. No. Sorry I'm fine. I just remembered something I have to do later. Sorry."
He leaned back and we continued to walk.
"If you're okay."
It took another minute of silence until we reached the small chocolate shop.
"Oh wow I know this place it's where I had my first m-"
SHUT UP SUGAWARA! WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?
"-first what?"
I shook my hand and we went up to the register.
"Welcome to Club Barista! What can I get for you two today?"
I ordered a mocha while Daichi ordered a tall cappuccino.
I was about to grab my wallet from my bag until I heard the girl at the register print a receipt.
I looked to Daichi and he winked.
With a flushed face I stuttered, "Thank you. I could have payed for it."
He scratched his neck and answered. "That's okay. I owe you an apology anyway, right?"
Speechless, I went to respond but Daichi already walked off to a small booth near a window.
I looked around and it seemed we were the only ones here so far.
