Of all the opportunities in this world, the first female assistant manager of a Major League Baseball team is a game changer. I have no idea what's about to come my way but I know I can handle it.

"As a woman, do you consider pursuing any personal relationships with any of the dodgers players as inappropriate?"
"Will managing a team of grown men be comfortable for you?"
"How would you feel if any of the players wanted to become intimate with you?"
"Can a woman really manage a baseball team? Let alone the Los Angeles Dodgers?"
I was told to not comment on any remarks from the press until given further notice. It was really hard not to punch anyone in the face, though. As instructed, I followed my body guard past security and into the stadium. My personal consultant was on the phone with her office that she worked for.
As we walked through the stadium I admired everything. I was finally here. "It's quite the view, isn't it?" Smith, my body guard, snaps me out of my trance. "It's a lot to take in, that's for sure," I take a deep breath.
We go down to the dugout, although only the grounds keepers were out. From the dugout we enter the clubhouse where it was empty. Players didn't have to be here until 10 a.m. And it was 8.
"Miss Harper?" I hear a familiar voice. Dave Roberts comes out from his office to greet us. "It's just Jenna, coach," I laugh. "Right. Jenna," he smiles.
"Kaitlyn Marshall, nice to meet you," my consultant shakes his hand. He nods as she begins speaking again.
"Your office is just around the corner. Once everyone shows up I'll introduce you. If you need anything, I'm usually in my office or you can ask Ben at the security checkpoint. There's also a phone in your office, line 2 is Elizabeth, the secretary, she'll help you with anything," Dave instructs as my consultant writes the rest down.
Kaitlyn and Smith followed me to my office. It was mostly empty besides a desk, chair, filing cabinet and mini fridge. There was also gear on the desk. "It's.... cozy, that's for sure," Kaitlyn says walking in behind me. "It's perfect," I say sitting in the chair, still taking everything in. "We'll need to decorate, for one," Kaitlyn adds. I tone out the rest of what she was saying. I can't believe this is happening.
I figured I was allowed to explore the stadium so I put on the windbreaker that was left for me and one of the hats. "I'll be back in a few. I just want to check the stadium out," I tell Kaitlyn as she took a phone call. "You have to be ready by 10 okay," she tells me while covering the speaker on her phone. I nod, hiding my annoyance of her.
As I exited my new office, Smith was waiting. "Would it be okay if I explored on my own?" I ask hopeful. "But I make a great tour guide," he says pretending to be sad. "I know, but I just feel like I need to do this on my own," I smile. "Yea it's okay. Just call me if you need anything," he smiles too. "Thanks," I say before leaving down the hallway opposite to the clubhouse. I found out where the gym was. No one was in there so I figured I could go in the mornings. As I continued down the hall I began to hear the sound of a bat and a ball striking each other. It made me curious to find out who was at batting practice this early. I see there were batting cages so I look through the window and see who I think was a player. I wasn't sure, though. He wasn't a veteran for sure. I didn't want to interrupt his practice but he looked like he had a strong swing to him.
I continued exploring until it reached 9:30. I started to head back to my office. I heard music blaring from the clubhouse. Bruno Mars' 24k Magic was on and I laugh to myself. Smith was in the room across from my office talking to some of the players. I enter my office to see Kaitlyn sitting in my chair still on the phone. "Mother please-" she stops mid sentence realizing I was back. "I'll call you later," she says in a hurried tone then stands up.
