I wake up to persistent knocking on my door. I manage to force myself up. "I'm coming!" I say since the knocking didn't stop. I open the door without hesitation, probably due to my annoyance. I was pleasantly surprised by Chris. "What-" before I could finish my sentence he rushes past me and shuts the door quickly. I could tell he was hiding from someone. "What the hell is going on?" I questioned confused. He was in nothing except his briefs and he was laughing hysterically. "This," he turns around, revealing a giant drawing on his back of an unrealistically sized penis. I can't help but laugh. "JT thought it'd be funny until I managed to draw one on his forehead," he adds. "Oh my god, I have to see this," I say going towards the door. "Wait!" Chris stops me. "He can't know where I am," he finishes. "Okay, whatever," I laugh.
I exit my room and hear commotion coming from the stairs. Other players were at their doors trying to see what was going on. Finally JT exits the stairwell and everyone laughs at him. "Haha, very funny guys," he laughs also. "Where's Chris," he gets serious and so do the guys in fear. All of the sudden there's a flash from a camera and I look over to see Kike with his phone in hand. He's laughing and I hold back a laugh myself. "Delete it Kike, I'm gonna kill you," JT threatens as Kike takes off with JT after him. Luckily, I could tell they were just joking around since JT was amused by the prank. "It's too early in the morning for this," I walk back into my room to find Chris raiding my fridge. "It's 9 a.m, Jenna," he looks at me funny before taking a bite of an ice cream sandwich I had purchased yesterday. "Shit, I was supposed to be up by 8," I realize then rush into my bedroom and rummage through my drawers for a decent outfit. "You can chill Jenna, practice doesn't start until 12," Chris laughs at me standing in the doorway. "It got bumped because of weather," he adds and I look at him confused. "It's raining? In Arizona?" I question. "Yea, forecast calls for an inch," he says collapsing on my bed. "Thanks by the way, for the ice cream," he says to me. "You're welcome," I roll my eyes but laugh. "And could you please put some clothes on?" I make a face at him before walking into the bathroom.
I change into shorts and a tee shirt and apply facial moisturizer due to the usual dry climate here. I put my hair in a high ponytail before exiting my room to find Chris not there anymore. I grab a bagel and my water bottle before leaving my room and going to Cody's. I knock and am greeted by a sleepy Cody. He smiles realizing it was me. "Good morning, sleepy head," I laugh as he moved aside so I could enter. "Morning, Jenna," he says in a raspy voice as he scratched the back of his neck. "It's almost 10, why aren't you up?" I asked surprised. "You didn't get the memo?" He answers with a question. "Weather delayed practice, yeah. But you're usually one of the first guys up," I say confused. "Weather like this just makes me tired for some reason," he shrugs sitting at the island in the identical kitchen to mine. "Oh, gotcha. Sorry to wake you," I frown. "No, it's fine. I needed to get up anyways," he says trying not to make me feel bad. "Well since I'm here, want me to make you something to eat? I'm a pretty decent cook if I do say so myself," I grin proudly. "Uhhh," he says unsure. "Oh c'mon, I promise," I say looking in his fridge to find nothing but water. "Are you serious, Cody?" I look at him. "What? I haven't had time to go out and buy anything?" He defends while laughing at my expression. I open his freezer and see a tub of salted caramel ice cream. "Uh huh, sure," I glare at him but laugh at the situation. "Okay, that's a necessity," he says with seriousness then it turns into a laugh as well. "What do you eat?" I question confused. He points to a box of dominos pizza. "Really Cody? I'm cooking for you tonight. It's settled," I shake my head. "Can't argue with that," he smiles. "What do you like? Mexican? Japanese? Italian?" I question, leaning on the island. "Ooooh, that's tough. I do love a good enchilada," he debates. "Mexican it is, enchiladas are my specialty," I agree with him. "I might actually fall in love with you if you're as good a cook as you say you are," he jokes. I roll my eyes but laugh at his exaggeration. "Are you not tired of me yet?" I ask realizing that we've been together almost all day everyday since we met. "Oh definitely, but you're the A.M so I can't exactly tell you that," he was almost believable if it weren't for his laugh that he couldn't hold back. "Oh, so you're just using me to get a spot in the line up," I pretend to be offended. "Dang it, you've figured it out," he continues to play along. "You don't give up do you?" I smile and he replies with a laugh.

12 P.M.
Though it had rained, there was almost no trace of any moisture outside. While the guys practiced, I observed everyone's abilities. There was a lot of young talent but the veterans still amazed me the most. While observing the players, my phone rang. It was Kaitlyn of course. "Hello?" I answer it. "You just couldn't stay out of trouble could you," she says in a confusing tone. I was confused because I had no idea what she was talking about and she didn't seem angry while saying that. "What did I do?" I question innocently. "Dinner with Cody?" She says trying to 'ring a bell'. "I was with his whole family," I defend. "That's not what these pictures show," she says. "What pictures?" I get annoyed. "Jenna, there's paparazzi everywhere. And they're especially going to target you, now that you're a female sports icon. Even though you may have been doing one thing, bloggers and news anchors will twist the story into something that you couldn't think was possible," she says making me realize, again, that I couldn't do normal things like I used to. "What do I do?" I sigh. "I took care of it. Luckily, I was able to by the pictures from the source before anyone else could. Could you lay low at least until I get there tomorrow morning?" She almost pleads. "Will do, and thanks Kaitlyn," I say sincerely. "You're welcome, see you tomorrow," she says before we exchange goodbyes. As I hung up the phone, Doc joined me in the dugout to talk about tomorrow's game. He was really good at making sure all of the players and coaching staff were all right and well informed on everything.
Later that day, there was a brief coaches meeting. There would be a team meeting tomorrow morning. I was more nervous about my press interview tomorrow than anything. I just can't lose my temper and I should be fine. That was gonna be hard though.
On the shuttle back to the apartment I was reading articles/news about me, I know I shouldn't but I just couldn't help it. 'Dodgers new ASSISTANT manager? Or a player's girlfriend?' They couldn't of come up with a better name for their column?
"Whatcha doin' there," my reading was distracted by Corey. He was in the seat behind mine and clearly knew what I had been reading. "Reading this dumb article on me," I say not even bothering to hide it. "'She's only here to sell tickets... I give it a week before the organization says enough is enough' They have no idea how any of this works, it's sounds so ignorant," I force a laugh. "I really don't think that's such a good idea," he says closing my lap top. "I know. It's just hard not to want to know what everyone's saying about you," I sigh. "And I totally get that. But you just have to not care about the bad things. They're just ignorant biased opinions that really won't matter in the long run. You're the freakin assistant manager for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and not only that but you're basically the first woman in baseball. I think that outweighs it all," he says adding an assuring smile. "Thanks, Corey," I smile really thinking it over. "And what's this I hear about you cooking for Cody?" He questions adding a suspicious look. "Are you jealous," I smirk. "Of course I am. All I got is ramen at my place," he shrugs. "Well I guess you ca-," he interrupts my sentence. "Oh no. I'm not third wheeling," he says with a laugh. "What? It's just dinner," I laugh too. "Just dinner? You know good and well that it's not just dinner," he raises his eyebrows as if implying something. "But that's what it is. It's just enchiladas," I say confused. "Keep telling yourself that, Jenna," Corey sits back resting his case. "I don't know what you're talking about," I sit back as well, giving up at trying to explain the situation. "Oh, you know exactly what I'm talking about, news and media aside. There's clearly some unspoken feelings between you two," he says and I was caught speechless. We haven't even known each other a week. There's no way anything could be going on between Cody and I, right?
