Anna
What was I supposed to say to that? No...I don't like you? At least, not in that way? Well, that would be a complete lie. I was farther than falling for him, I was most certainly in love with him. He made me feel special- even with his insulting comment about my body. Jason cleared his throat.
"Well?" Antonio looked so nervous. He stuffed his hands as deep as they could go into his pockets and cleared his throat multiple times.
"Why did you say those things about my body then?"
"I don't know!" Now he looked really stressed. "I think it's because I was nervous that you wouldn't like me back.....you're the first girl I've actually liked."
"Oh, so you mean, I'm the only girl you haven't tried sleeping with?" He grinned sheeplishly.
"That too." My stomach started boiling with anger, it was practically coming out of my ears.
"So I'm just another toy?" He looked petrified. Well, he deserved it. I was not going to be someone's 'friend with benefits'. That's not how I work. I'm looking for long term, a guy who will kiss me every day....just because he wants to. Or a guy that will give me red roses on valentines day, even if I think it's completley and utterly cheesy.
"No! I didn't mean it like that! I meant- UGH! You make everything so difficult. Look, I'm trying to ask you out on a date ok?" I thought about it. What could the harm be? I mean.....one date right? Nothing bad can happen on one date. Hopefully.
"Fine. I'll go on one date with you. Just one. if it goes well, great. If not, don't talk to me again. Got it?" The poor boy looked like he had just won the lottery.
"Are you serious?!"
"Do you want to make me change my mind?" With that, I slipped out of Jason's arms, walked into my grandparent's house and closed the door lightly. A small smile made it's way onto my face as I headed to the dining room, where Ethan was sitting.
"So, what happened?" He asked. I shrugged, the stupid grin still staying. He scanned my face carefully, looking for any signs that I might have been hurt, and when he found none, he sighed.
"Ok, well it's been a long day, I'm gonna hit the sheets. Night sis." Ethan gave me a quick kiss on the forehead and headed to his room. I reclined on the couch, thinking about how my life had changed within a few moments.
I got up at 6:00 am, my normal time and felt lost for a moment, forgetting where I was. Oh.....right. On my grandparents couch. It was strange, not only that they had welcomed me, but that I hd allowed them to. Normally I put up more walls so I have no idea how they were broken all at once. And saying yes to a date with Antonio? So not what I was planning on doing. But then again, what was I planning? Nothing. Because I didn't think he even liked me. Guess I had been wrong?
Slowly getting up, I began to inspect my surroundings. Thankfully, not much had changed. The walls of the living room were still a pale pink....the pictures were the only thing that had changed. I saw my brothers smiling at the camera. You couldn't tell that they had any other siblings. One photo was them at the beach, laughing, with their arms around my grandmother.
"They didn't even give me a chance." I whispered to myself, realizing how quickly they shut me out. And thinking about it more....I wasn't completely sure that they actually wanted me here. My phone rang, so I picked it up and saw an unknown number.
"Hello?"
"What are you doing today after school?" Antonio's voice echoed through the phone. I smiled unintentionally, feeling my heart patter in the way it does in movies.
