Gordon and I were standing nose to nose before Tom pulled us away.

"What?" I asked, facing his glare.

"Why'd you do it?"

"Tom, she has two freakin bruises and WON'T TELL ME WHY!" Tom rolled his eyes.

"Dude, maybe she doesn't want to tell you." I sighed in exasperation.

"I don't care!" Hearing quiet sniffles, I turned around to see Jason whispering quiet words to Anna. My stomach hurt to see her eyes puffy and red. Gordon approached her, but Jason stepped in front and shook his head.

"Not right now" he muttered. Gordon nodded and walked back towards me.

"I'm sorry man." he stuck out his hand and after a moments hesiation, I put my hand in his and shook it.

"Me too dude." I watched as Anna crept out of the room but before I could follow her, Jason came storming up to the three of us.

"WHAT THE-"

"Hell. I know. I've heard the phrase enough today." I mutteredd and Jason sighed.

"You don't get it do you? Anna was scared of both of you." I shared a concerned glance with Gordon and Tom.

"Wait, why?" Jason sat on the floor with his head in his hands.

"Her parents are dead and her brother abuses her at home."

"WHAT!" I yelled and was about to spit out a hundred more words that would make my mother scream, but was interrupted by Jason.

"Yeah, her brothers an addict. With drugs and alchohol." I sighed and slid down next to him.

"What should we do about it?" I asked, directing my question at all of the guys. Gordon snorted and I glanced up at his face, which was covered by a furious expression.

"We're getting her out of course."

"What are you guys doing here?" Anna whispered, looking at the four of us waiting outside of her door.  I rolled my eyes.

"Uh, you're coming with us." She shook her head, and tried closing the door but I wedged my foot in between the crack.

"No getting out of this." I snarled, but before I could pick her up and carry her out, a deep voice came from inside the house,

"Anna? Who is it?" While she was opening her mouth, Tom pinched me on the shoulder and answered,

"It's Anna's friends from school." There were heavy footsteps and a guy, who looked like he was in his early twenties appeared behind her. He gave us a once over and laughed.

"What?"

"That's a funny joke. Now tell me who you really are." Gordon raised his eyebrow.

"What do you mean? We already told you who we were. We're Anna's friends from school." The dude looked surprised and then burst out laughing again, while Anna stood cowering, her back pressed to the door.

"But Anna doesn't have any friends!" He was practically crying.

"Why wouldn't she?" The guy turned to me, all humor gone from his eyes.

"Have you looked at her dude? She's a fat, ugly, disgusting whore. Why would anyone want her?" Before I could speak my mind, Anna rested a hand on her brothers shoulder, still looking scared, but her posture was straight.

"You're right Danny. I don't have any friends. Just calm down and go back inside. I promise I'll just be a minute." He narrowed his eyes, but walked into the house, making sure to shoot me a glare before the door fully closed. Jason cleared his throat.
