Antonio☺

I stared at the note that she had passed to me.

Yeah, and I thought you were interested in me. Guess we were both wrong. I stared at the scribbled words for half a second before quickly writing a response down.

What do you mean? But I knew exactly what she had meant as I poked her in the arm. Anna sat stiffly, paying attention to the teacher's lesson. I threw the paper onto her desk, but she just crumpled it up and tossed it back to me without giving me a second glance. Sighing, I gave up trying to catch her attention, but during the entire rest of the class, I snuck quick looks at her. Her gorgeous eyes were focused on the board and she was taking detailed notes. Why did she have to be so smart?

I didn't see Anna for the rest of the morning, but was determined to catch her before lunch. As I hurried towards her locker, I saw the football jocks and groaned. Those guys were going to be the death of me. All I wanted was Anna....and then they had to just take her. Damn.

I saw her smiling at something Charlie said and nod as he led her away. My head was pounding. Slowly, I followed them, making sure to go unnoticed as the group brought her to the popular table. Spencer grinned and smiled at everyone, flinging his arm around Anna. I tensed, not wanting him to touch her like that. Actually.....come to think of it.......I didn't want him touching her at all. She was my girl. Ok, fine, I know I might've told the guys that I didn't like her anymore. But that was only because they were bugging me about it and I wasn't completely ready to tell everyone that I really really really REALLY liked her. I mean......LOVE HER. I groaned and slumped against the brick wall. I was as emotional as a girl on her period. Thanks a lot Anna.

"Hey man." Tom and I gave each other a bro hug, but I just nodded at Gordon. He and I hadn't been on good terms since the fight. Jason came up behind him with a confused look on his face.

“Why isn’t Anna sitting with us? I though you guys were a thing now.” Gordon shook his head and raised his eyebrow at Jason.

“What are you talking about Jase? There’s a reason all the guys are on her. Antonio told everyone he was finally over Anna.” Jason gave a confused ‘what’ while Tom just rolled his eyes and shook his head.

“Get over it guys. I’m sorry, but I can’t be around a bastard like this.” With that, he walked away. My best friend since 2nd grade just walked away from me. Gordon cracked his knuckles, but followed Tom, reminding me that he could beat me to a pulp. Jason was the only person who stayed next to me, but he was giving me a confused expression.

“Ok Tone, I’m giving you a chance to explain yourself. One time. That’s all you get.” I nodded.

“That makes sense.”

“So, what happened?”

“I’ll start from last night.......I was thinking about Anna, and how I really like her. And man, I mean I really like her. And I realized that I should’ve just told her that from the beginning. So long story short....I asked her out on a date.” Jason didn’t say anything, just motioned for me to continue.

“Well, I was in early this morning because I had to talk to a teacher. But when I came out, Charlie, Spencer and the rest of the guys from the football team were talking about Anna. When they saw me coming, the were like ‘Dude sorry, we didn’t mean it.’ but I just shrugged and told them that I wasn’t interested in her anymore.” Jasonput his head in his hands and sighed.

“Antonio, you can be such a stupid jerk sometimes.” I nodded, running my hands through my hair.

“I know. And she found out and that’s why she’s pissed. She told me that she wouldn’t go on the date.”

“Well I wouldn’t either with the way you’ve been acting.”

“I know! I screwed up!” Jason scoffed.

“Yeah, big time man.”

“But Jase.....it’s a pretty big issue.” he gave me a questioning stare, and I looked down at my hands, not wanting to admit it out loud.

“What?”

“I love her.”

Before he could say anything else, I interrupted him, throwing my hands in the air.

“I know it’s too soon!! That’s why I said those things to the guys. Because I don’t want Anna to get scared and not like me because I admitted something when I just met her.” I stopped when I saw Jason’s smile. It spread across his entire face as he thumped me on the back.

“Man, you love her! That’s awesome!” I smiled a little, imagining Anna’s gorgeous face.

“Yeah, I know.” My smile dropped. “Too bad I blew it.” Jason shook his head.

“You didn’t blow it completely. If you admit everything, including the part where you tell her you love her......I’m sure she’ll reconsider. But try to NOT act like a dick for the rest of the day, ok?” I gave him a small grin.

“Ok.” He shook his head, still smiling, and walked away towards Tom, Gordon and Coby. But before he could get very far, I grabbed his arm and said in a low whisper,

“You can’t tell anyone what I told you, ok? ESPECIALLY not Coby. He likes her too.” Jason gave me a searching look, but finally shook his head in agreement. I breathed a sigh of relief and then walked lazily to my car, giving half smiles at all of the girls who were shoving make covered face in mine. I get a little shiny stuff on you lips and eyes, but this? Ladies, please, I could wipe off 90% of that beauty with a wet Kleenex. Camilla, a girl in my year who seems to think that I like in her.....came up to me and rubbed my arm, trying to act seductive.

“Hey baby, wanna come to my place later?” I pushed her off and gave her my trademark smile.

“Honey, anyone who told you to be yourself couldn’t have given you worse advice.” with that I shut the door to my car and pulled out of the parking lot, determined to get to Jules’ Pizza before the line got too long.
