Ridge:

North looks at him, eyebrow cocked. "What?"

"Lee McCafferty, he was caught when he was on a drug run with us three years ago, he was supposed to stay in jail for another...I don't remember...but the penalty was more than three, it was drugs and theft,"

"Who got him out? And why him especially?" North snarls.

Kyle shrugs. "Probably needed his services?"

"Excuse me?" I sneer.

"You heard me," Kyle snaps. "His services, McCafferty could fix anything with wires, he was crazy with electronics and an experienced hacker,"

Jail. Electronics. Theft. Drugs. What did all of these have to do with each other?

"Fine, come on, Ridge,"

"Where do you think you're going?" Kyle smirks, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Home,"

"Last I heard your 17th birthday two and a half months ago, you're not eighteen yet, I don't see how you think you're staying with someone that isn't your guardian,"

"Right, because you give a flying fuck what I do,"

"You're right, I don't, no one does, not even him--"

That's fucking it. I was going to snap any minute anyway.

I grab the old man by his collar, slamming him against the spotted wall. With no exercise or proper food for five years, it's almost too easy.

"NEVER talk to her like that, you don't know her and you sure as fuck don't deserve to know her, got that, fucker?" I snarl, feeling my claws poking from my fingernails. My wolf was taking too much control.

Kyle falters, looking at me, and then back at his daughter, then he bursts out laughing. "My daughter--mated with the alpha's son, this is almost comical,"

He just signed his death warrant. I raise my forming claws, just as a tiny hand comes on my arm, stopping me immediately, North's eyes are empty, full lips pursing.

"Just forget him okay? What if the police come? Just forget it, not like he said anything new," North mumbles shaking her head.

That's not why she wants me to stop, she just doesn't want her father dead. I clench my jaw in irritation, after all I don't doubt he's done to her, after all the mental scars he's caused, she still doesn't want him dead. I let him go, my wolf growling low in my chest. I grab North's forearm and she doesn't protest, walking away with me.

"He won't care North, you'll come back to me anyway,"

Before I can say anything North turns her head. "I know he doesn't, but it will NEVER make me run back to you,"

"Why did you bring me here?" I growl, turning the car into reverse.

She scoffs. "I thought we were working with this shit together, if you don't want to be involved I don't mind, I'll stop updating you,"

That's not what I meant and she knows it.

"Why did you really bring me here?" I prompt, speeding out of the compound and toward the highway.

"I don't know, I don't know why and I hate that," she mumbles finally, turning her head towards the window.

"Can I take you somewhere,"

"No," she answers flatly.

"North?" I say.

"Yeah?"
