Behind the Screen (Rosa x Curtis)

Battle begin!

Hugo had led us both to a Pokemon battle field near the end of the theme park.

"Curtis, you really don't have to, this is so stupid, I mean..." I was quickly interrupted by Curtis for the millionth time.

"Rosa, this is a battle I want to fight for more reasons than getting to hang out with you. You gave me my xtransceiver, so if you think this is so stupid, why did you come?" He asked, peering down at me.

I blushed, avoiding his eye contact. It was so complicated. 

"To make sure you or Hugo don't do anything stupid." I responded.

Once we had made it, Hugo chose the right side, and Curtis stared for a while, until he realized he was supposed to set himself up on the other side. I face palmed.

"Hugo is going to thrash him." I shook my head.

Hugo seemed to hear me, and smiled evilly.

"It seems you're right dear." I heard someone say.

I slowly looked next to me and freaked out when I saw my granny comfortably watching the events unfold. 

"Granny what are you doing here?!" I exclaimed.

"I ran into your old school teacher, who told me you were here. I came to see how you're date was going!" She smiled.

She glanced over at Curtis.

"Is that the lucky man? Say if you don't get with him, could you set me up?" My granny joked. 

I had to admit it was kinda funny and ironic at that moment in time.

"Granny, could you be the referee?" Hugo calmly asked.

Granny smiled.

"Of course dear!" She stepped into position.

"This will be a one on one Pokemon match, with the victor getting something I'm not sure about." My granny admitted.

"Once a Pokemon is down, the victor will be proclaimed. Battle...start!" 

And with that the battle started.

"Serperior, lets go!" Hugo yelled, launching his pokeball onto the field.

"Mawile let's do this!" Curtis yelled, launching his pokeball onto the field.

"A mawile?!" I exclaimed.

They were rare in the Unova region.

"A fairy and steel type, amazing choice young man!" Granny yelled to Curtis.

This seemed to fuel Hugo's anger.

Both Pokemon came out at the same time, but I could only look at the elegant Mawile. Almost instantly I noticed the little bracelet it wore, with a purple gem in the middle, with many swirls. It gleamed with pride. I guess it was excited for its first pokemon battle.

"Mawile, lets go! Are you ready?" Curtis yelled, holding up a black wristband with a rainbow stone in it.

"MEGA EVOLVE!" Curtis yelled, as Mawile held up its own bracelet. 

It was almost as if you could see their bond together. Mawile shape began to change, and in a flash of blue light, it had mega evolved, even more beautiful and elegant than before. It roared at the surprised Hugo and Serperior. Hugo recovered quickly.

"Serperior, use wrap!" He yelled.

Seperior obeyed, slithering quickly around the Mawile, and enforcing its strong grip.
