I awoke to the sound of squeaky floorboards.I was in my bed happy to stop tossing and turning and to finally get some sleep .But,my slumber was disturbed by footsteps .
I sat up from my bed confused on whether I imagined it or not.Out of curiosity I slowly got up in walked over to my door.I gently lowered my ear down to the wooden door.
My heartbeat was the only thing I could hear so far.Fear wrapped its icy claws around my heart.My breathing quickened when I only heard silence.
The silence was chilling and suffocating like I was waiting for something awful to happen.
Just then I heard muffled voices and screams coming from outside my door .
I jumped back out of fear and realization .
I cautiously approached my door knob and gripped it with all of my might. My breathing was heavy and my heart was beating my ribcage.
A single tear dripped down my face in fear of what I was going to find. With all the courage I had ,I flung open the door and ran to my parents room.
