A/N I changed the waitresses name from Sarah to Lucy, hopefully there isn't too much confusion

L"Don't talk to her like that," I speak louder still before I remember that we're in the middle of a restaurant and have attracted the attention of nearly every table in the room. I look around and open my mouth to apologize to everyone, but the air is knocked out of me in one forceful motion and suddenly, instead of sitting in my chair, I'm tumbling backward toward the ground with a weight on my chest and attempting to brace myself as my head hits the floor with a thud.
"Alex!" I hear Camila scream through the ringing in my ears.
I feel the weight on my chest shift so that it's straddling my hips and I blink a few times to bring my focus back to reality just in time to dodge the first punch. As Alex's fist flies inches from my face, I quickly grab her leg in between both of my own and push her off balance. She struggles to stay upright and I take the opportunity to slide myself out from underneath her and stand up. My heart is racing and I can hear my pulse in my ears.
"You bitch," she angrily speaks as she rises to her feet as well. I can only hear muffled noise as my mind goes into fight or flight mode
She looks at me for a moment and I inhale deeply before she's lunging at me again. This time, I'm much better prepared and easily deflect the weight of her body onto the floor. She lands with a painful skidding sound on the hardwood and is quick to untangle her once perfectly styled blonde hair from in front of her face.
Suddenly, I hear Camila's voice and look over in her direction, attempting to make out the sound. Her face is a mixture of fear and horror and I want so badly to go over to her and reassure her that everything is going to be fine once her psychotic girlfriend stops attacking me.
Some movement behind Camila catches my attention and I realize that we're still in a restaurant full of people, a standing crowd of spectators now formed in an even circle around Alex and I. Their faces mirror Camila's expression. I can see all of their mouths moving, but can't seem to recognize anything that they're saying.
Through the movement behind Camila, the waitress, Lucy, emerges. Her mouth is moving wildly, like she's trying to warn me of something, but I don't have enough time to try to decode what she's saying before I feel a punch to my stomach and double over in searing pain at the harsh contact. Without nearly enough time to recover from it, I feel Alex's manicured hands grab my head and smash it down onto her knee. The ringing in my head intensifies so that it sounds more like a high pitched alarm telling me to run. I nearly fall over at the amount of pain coursing throughout my body.
I look up from my crouched stance just in time to see another punch coming my way. I quickly move my hands up in front of my face as some sort of shield and close my eyes tightly to brace for impact, only, the impact never comes. I cautiously open my eyes and they nearly fall right out of my head as I watch Lucy knock Alex to the floor and pin her arms behind her back like a pro.
The whole room is silent until Camila runs over to where Lucy has Alex pinned yells, "Stop! You're hurting her!"
"I'm hurting her? Look at your pretty friend over there!" Lucy yells back, keeping a tight grip on Alex as she tries to escape.
"Let her go," Camila speaks with less anger and a more pleading tone this time, not sparing me a glance and attempting to pull Lucy off of her girlfriend.
Lucy just bats her away like a small fly, "Not until the police get here."
As if on cue, three police officers emerge from the now stunned crowd and Lucy releases Alex once they slide the metal handcuffs around her wrist. Alex is oddly quiet.
Once Lucy gives a brief explanation to the cops of what happened, one of them escorts Alex through the crowd to one of their cars outside while the second gets statements from the crowd and the third comes walking over to me.
"What's your name young lady?" He asks in a gruff, not really wanting to deal with this situation, voice.
I open my mouth to respond but can't form any words when I notice the brightly colored spots dotting my vision, making the officer seem like nothing more than half a head and a torso.
"Ma'am?" He looks at me curiously when I give no response to his question.
All of a sudden, my head feels very warm and I rest my hand on my forehead for a second before coming into contact with a warm liquid. I gulp as I bring my hand back into view and watch as the red fluid drips off of my fingers and onto the floor.
"Oh my god! Are you okay?"
I look up from the floor to see Lucy standing in front of me with concerned eyes. I blink to see her clearer but it only lasts for a moment.
"Shit, you're bleeding pretty bad," she speaks again as the police officer steps away to radio for an ambulance.
I watch through blurred eyes as Lucy goes to the nearest table to grab one of the folded, white napkins. She reaches slowly for my hand and holds it in both of her own as she carefully wipes the blood off. The way it stains the fabric nearly makes me sick.
The officer comes back over to Lucy and I, "The ambulance is on it's way, do you want to sit down?"
I nod in response, shaking my head a little in order to try to get rid of the spots clouding my vision which causes the blood from my forehead to drip down my face and onto my lip. I unconsciously lick it off and frown at the metallic taste.
"Let's sit over here," Lucy suggests while gesturing to a table a few feet away.
I try to take a step but my legs don't oblige and I stay rooted in my spot. Lucy loops her arm around mine and steps forward in an attempt to get me to move. However, my feet stay planted as my top half follows Lucy's lead and the last thing I feel is a pair of strong arms grabbing me by the waist as I go crashing toward the floor.
