Chapter 7 First Day

I wake up and get ready.

It's my first day of school here in Mystic Falls. I walk down the stairs and grab my bag off of the table that was covered in stakes yesterday.

"Bye mum love you!" I shout grabbing the coffee my mum put out for me in my take away mug.

"Bye honey have fun stay safe!" Yells my mum who I now know is upstairs.

I walk out the door taking a long sip of my coffee. Just what I needed. I start walking in the direction of school when I hear footsteps behind me. I speed up a little as I see who it is out the corner of my eyes. It's Damon. What does he want? I know running won't do me any good so I keep the faster pace I'm walking to try and get to school before I have to talk to him. But of course he has a different plan.

"Oy going to ignore me forever are you?" He says appearing at my side as he spoke which gives me a small heart attack.

"I don't wish to speak to you can you please just let me get to school?" I say walking faster.

"Why I'm awesome! And you seemed pretty happy to talk to me yesterday." Says Damon again appearing at my side.

AN: I've decided that sheriff Forbes is alive.

"Aren't you worried someone will see you doing that?" I ask finally turning to look at him and slowing down.

"Nah I'll just kill them if they do.... I'm kidding by the way. Most people know or well anyone who will see do." He smirked.

"Please back off and leave me alone!" I scream annoyed that he's taking pleasure in my knowledge of his 'powers'.

"Why? Are you afraid of me?" He asks smirking spearing at my side.

"No I'm not." I say as confidently as I can after he used his powers to scare me.

That's when I see the sheriff walking by the  confident blonde Caroline giving her a kiss and jogging off towards the school. The sheriff turns around and I can clearly see the resemblance. The sheriff was definitely Caroline's mother.

I run over to her followed closely by Damon though he's not running. He's just slowly walking down the path behind me. I get to her and she turns around having heard me run over.

"Please he won't stop following me. I need to get away from him!" I say my hopelessness coming out.

"Ok it's alright who? Who is following you?" She asks putting her hand on my shoulder and looking around skimming over Damon.

"Him! Damon Salvatore." I end up sighing as I get to the end of his name.

"Really? Damon! What are you doing? Leave the poor girl alone! Why are you stooping to a new low?" She asks looking impatiently at Damon.

"Well I... her annoyance was funny." Sighs Damon.

"That's not good enough Damon it's never good enough you know that. Now let her get to school in peace. If I hear you've been near her again today I will personally see to your death alright?" She says looking at him dead in the eye.

"Eye eye captain you will personally stake me well aware of your capabilities." Smirks Damon looking at the sheriff a real smile shining through his eyes.

The sheriff looks worriedly at me you can se she trying to work out if I know. "I know I was told oh so nicely last night that's why I want him to leave me alone."

"Oh." The sheriff smiles awkwardly like she understands.

"Can I ask what the relationship between you two is?" I ask looking between them.

"He's a friend of mine. He's not to bad when you get to know him thats not to say he's not an absolute dick. Definitely don't trust him with your secrets the one to trust is Stefan. Though somehow he became my best mate." She sighs getting into her car, starting it and leaving.

"Really?" I ask looking at him.

"I know a vampire who's the best friend of a sheriff who used to be a hunter herself. She controlled the vampires here the founding families did. Then I came and ruined her plan. She's a good mate one of my only mates. Eh that's because I'm a dick." He says smiling fondly at the memories?

"Ok well I'm going to be late to my first day of school so will you let me walk there in peace now?" I question taking a step backwards towards the school.

"Yeah she will hurt me if I don't leave you alone. So I may as well." He said before he was gone, making me jump about 6 foot off the ground.

I stood there willing myself to turn around and walk to school but I was frozen in place. I don't know why because I wasn't absolutely terrified I just was frozen. But I got over it and turned around quickly. Too quickly because as soon as I did it I bumped into something. Someone and I bumped into them hard.

"Hey I hoped I would bump into you! But I was thinking more metaphorically speaking." Laughed Matt from above me.

He wanted to see me today. He wanted to see me today! Why why did he want to? He's a shy guy is this his way of flirting it could be. Oh I hope it is. Ok ok that's enough of that sorry got a bit carried away. How long has it been? I haven't talked. Oh damn it. This is seriously a face palm moment.

"Hey, sorry about bumping into you. I also wanted to bump into you today but I didn't think it would be literally like this so... sorry." I was stumbling on my words gosh what is happening to me this was just a tiny crush and here I am a babbling mess!
