Chapter 9

Derek's POV
In all honesty I'm glad Harper left when she did because I know she would of got caught in the cross fire. The fact she wasn't involved when Alison died was unbelievable. Sure I miss her but I'm glad that she left because she's been my first real friend in a long time that has nothing to do with anything. Where she is will be good for her it will keep her safe. Or well that's what I'm telling myself so I don't go all emotional.
Maybe it was because I started to get my emotions back but I had to get out of that stinking town. So when I evolved I got out of there. I didn't tell them where I was going. I just left but to be honest I didn't know where I was going.
Is it a coincidence that I'm sitting in a diner in Virginia. I don't know.

Harper's POV
This is it......

I breathe in and close my eyes waiting for a shooting pain in my neck but it doesn't come. I slowly open my eyes to see Damon smirk and move towards me when there's a knock at the door. I gasp and run down the stairs to the door. My heart in my throat. Blood pumping in my ears. I open the door not even noticing who's there and stand there trying to breathe my eyes closed. I draw in a short breathe when I feel a hand on my shoulder. I look up and gasp a smile threatening my face.

"Anyone home?" Laughs the girl in front of me.

"What the hell?" I smile at her.

"God don't tell me that you don't remember me." Sighs the gorgeous red head in front of me a small smile playing on her lips.

"Of course I do! Anna what the hell are you doing here?!"

"I'm doing a an exchange program at your school! I didn't even know you had moved again until I bumped into your mum at the shops. She told me to drop in and see you."

"Well Harper's busy at the moment could you come back later?" Says Damon from the top of my staircase, sending a shiver down my spine. Fear in my eyes.

"I'm... Im not. Please stay your welcome to." I say my voice shaking.

"Harper what's gotten into you? Are you ok?" Asks Anna looking at me worry in her eyes.

"I'm fine why wouldn't I be?"  I ask looking at her tears threatening to come to my eyes.

"Anna. You should know why she isn't fine. Why don't you come in and comfort her." Says Damon dragging every word out as he walks down the stairs. Fear creeping up me as he gets closer.

"I don't know what your talking about.. I..I don't know what's wrong with her." Anna says shakily and I can see the fear spreading through her as he gets closer.

"You do though deep down." Smirks Damon. His dark voice filled with anything but sympathy.

"I don't know what your talking about!" Yells Anna looking down.

"Mmmm maybe I miss read you." Smirks Damon his presence right next to me. His cold body cooling me giving me chills.

"I should get going you obviously have stuff you need to do." Says Anna hurriedly almost running from my house.

"What did you just do?" I ask, my hand trembling as I shut the front door still not turning around.

"Scared her away because we need to talk."

I turn around looking at him, tears glazing my eyes. "Talk then."

"I'm not as bad as I make it seem. I want another chance to become your friend. The day you moved here I was intrigued by you I still am. You are so innocent yet you hold the key to something. I'm not so good at making first impressions and this soppy stuff is never good for my reputation."

"What are you saying?" I snap. The smirk no longer on his face. He looks almost in pain.

"I'm sorry." His eyes glow as he grabs my shoulders my eyes not moving from his. A tear falling down my cheek.

My eyes flicker from the right side of the room to the left. I pull my phone out cautiously looking down at the time. 3:05pm. What the hell happened since I woke up and why is last night a blur..?
