Harper's POV
I wisper, "please get out of this town."I don't bother to turn around, he couldn't have heard me anyway. I was so happy to see him but here, never it's not safe. I want him to be safe and here is not how you say safe.
"Don't worry about yesterday it happens all the time." Smirks Damon, making me even more worried.
"Harper seriously it's fine. I'm fine. You're all good. Let's go." Says Matt calming me.
"But you just got here." Laughs Damon trying to whine.
"I should go. We should go." I say walking to the door. Only to scream as Damon appeared in front of me at the door.
Derek's POV
I heard her heart rate rise dramatically as well as a scream. I run back out of the woods towards the house. Fear pumping through my veins. What did she mean get out of this town? Why can't I hear Damian's heart rate? Why is she screaming?""Harper." I say gripping both her shoulders as she steps out of the house.
"Hey wow." Says Harper rubbing my arms. "Calm down I'm fine."
"I'm sure he's fine, just wondering why your friends with him even with all his secrets." Laughs Damon his eyes telling me all the things I had hidden from her. Making my eyebrows raise and me let go of her stepping back.
"Derek?" Asks Harper looking at me stepping forward but I don't take notice as I glare at Damon, Matt just watching on with a questioning look.
"Yeah Derek. Does Harper truely know you? What's wrong can't hear my heartbeat?" Damon says stepping forward with each question the biggest smirk on his face.
"What are you talking about? You guys are seriously weirding me out?" Harper asks looking at me.
"Your friend here has some secrets and he doesn't belong in this town." Snaps Damon his face becoming scarily serious, stepping forward and gripping my arm.
He stares me off as he holds my arm tight I growl showing my teeth before brushing off his hand and running into the woods.
Damon's POV
"Don't worry I'm sure he hasn't kept that many secrets from you." I laugh walking away.I may have laughed it off but Derek doesn't belong here. The werewolves that live here have been here for years but the Lockwood pack has been contained for years under the rule of vampires but this new guy he doesn't even know what I am. It worries me if an outsider doesn't sit well with the people of this town all hell can break loose and he's already on bad terms with Tyler. This town doesn't care about me but yet I seem to care about it so much and yesterday. It wasn't me. I had terrified Harper the night before and had her right where I wanted her yet I couldn't bring myself to hurt her. Instead I apologised and made her forget the horrible things I did to her. What the hell has gotten in to me?! Sappy and sweet! Yuck!!!
"Oh my god." Whispers a girl from behind me. I turn to see the girl who had visited Harper yesterday. Damn I had forgotten about her.
A quick glance lets me see no one is looking as I grip her by the neck "look I know what you are and you know what I am now let's play nice no need to remember yesterday now is there." She swallows and shakes her head.
"Hi, I'm Damon." I smirk, watching her face light up at the attention.
"Anna." She smiles, obviously flirting. It's just too easy.
"What a lovely accent!"
"Oh thanks I'm on an exchange program here all the way from Australia."
"Wow" I say smiling and nodding my head as I completely zone out. I wasn't looking for a conversation but the girls cute what can I say.
Derek's POV
All I can smell is rotting flesh. My senses are in overdrive and I can't calm down. These woods give me the creeps. I think if I dig I would find millions of bodies and I can't help but think it would be Damon's doing. I glance at my hands and see my claws in the red glow my glowing blue eyes see everything.I slump against a tree closing my eyes. I can feel my elongated canine fangs in my mouth and sharp claws my nails transform into. It makes me look like the monster I am. How could I ever let myself get close to Harper? How could I ever let myself fall in love with Harper? I can't help but throw my head back on to the tree. It doesn't even hurt. I know to much pain to think that hurts anyway.
I hear a branch snap, my head immediately snapping towards the direction of the sound. The inferred makes it clear there's a person coming towards me. They aren't big enough to be Damon or any the boys I met today.
"Derek!" Harper calls from where the branch just snapped under her feet.
I close my eyes tightly as she gets closer to me. I can't do this she can't find out. It will ruin everything. How could she ever like me if I'm a werewolf?
"Derek? Why are your eyes closed?" She half heartedly laughs, concern lacing every word.I reluctantly open my eyes only to see everything as normal, not in inferred. I look down to my hands and run my toy he over my teeth, no claws or fangs. I wasn't in control yet here I am in full human form. The only difference is that I heard harpers voice, she can't have that much control over me. My anchor is anger, it all was has been. It can't now be her.
"Ok come on. What's up with you?" Asks Harper snapping me out of my thoughts.
"I don't know what your talking about." I say pushing my self off the tree with my foot and walking away.
"Don't give me that. I know you and I'm a freaking girl I'm good at reading people." She was trying to get my to laugh and I couldn't but smile but I made sure she didn't see. "You freaking growled back there! What the hell was that? I've seen weird in this town, trust me, but that that I don't get."
"You don't want to know." I reply stopping to turn to her.
"Try me. You don't know what my life has been like for the last few weeks."
