Derek's POV
Something about these guys seems to unsettle me, even after they've given me their word that I won't be harmed. The house was grand and I wouldn't be able to find my way through all the halls which they lead me down.
"Derek, why are you in Mystic Falls?" Elijah asks, sitting down on a classic white chair. I sit down on the chair across from them.
"I was bored in my town, I've got nothing else to do." I reply.
"Do you know the history of this town? Your family history with this town?" Asked Elijah.
"No I've never heard of the town before," I reply my voice steady.
"Your lying," Rebecca's lips curl up into a smile.
"Well I recently heard there's a Hale vault here but that's not what brought me here. I didn't know it existed." I reply looking her dead in the eye.
"Beacon hills...that's your home town?" Elijah questions.
"Yes, we had a whole pack there lots of land, beautiful woods. But then they were slaughtered and hunted down. There are few Hales left so I've been looking for the vault ever since I heard about it." I reply, the usual scowl on my face, all fear gone from my features.
"So you don't have a pack?" Asks Elijah.
"I do, it's just not the Hale pack I grew up in. Scott McCall is the alpha, my pack is made up of all walks of life. There's not much love for me there but I look after them as best I can. They're still babies in this world." I explain.
"We know where the vault is and the history you have with the town, you need to leave before people start looking into you." Says Elijah locking eyes with me.
Before I knew it we were behind some trees before a small clearing where I could make out Harper standing before the entrance of the vault.
Harpers POV
"I didn't trap you. I just didn't want you to run off." Frowns Ric."He's right love, we need to talk." Says Klaus his smirk falling from his face.
"Your little boyfriend has been keeping some secrets from you." Shrugs Damon leaning on the doorframe.
"What? What are you guys talking about? For once can someone in this town stop being cryptic." I sigh giving in. Looking in their eyes I think I can see friends but they're killers they can't be my friends.
"Come with us love it's easier if we show you." Smiles Klaus.
"Give me a reason I should leave with you?" I say looking at him.
"I trust him," says Ric nodding his head.
"And we actually like you, love," laughs Klaus.
"Where are we going?" I swallow.
"The woods," replies Damon.
"You expect me to follow three vampires into the woods in the middle of the afternoon, are you kidding?" I sigh exasperated.
"Either that or we drag you there and personally I don't want you to think of me as a monster but that may not go for the guy standing in your house." Smirks Klaus.
"We just want to show you the truth," shrugs Damon.
"Fine but anything funny and I will scream louder then any of you have heard before," I say.
"Love, there's three of us and we are all faster then you that won't do any good but I like your attitude." Smirks Klaus taking my arm and leading the way.
The walk was short and with every step into the woods it seemed to grow darker sending a shiver down my spine. The walk was mostly silent as I had no idea what was about to happen. We came to a small clearing near a little hill or really just a mound. Damon gives me a look of slight apology as he reaches down and pulls away some vines which reveal that the mound is actually an entrance to a room under the woods. The room itself wasn't what gave me the creeps but the small clearing I was standing in.
I thought I was being watched.
"This, love, is who your little friend is. It's why he needs to leave this town before someone else finds out." Say Klaus motioning for me to enter.
I was scared but I took a step forward. There was no one to hear me scream and the room was pitch black. Any one of them could kill me and no one would ever find my body again. In this town would anyone ever even look?
Out of no where a light in the middle turns on, lighting up the room to show stacks of boxes, shelves with random things lining the walls and a safe in the corner. Looking more closely I saw what really lined the walls and floor among the photos of people smiling there was claw marks.
"What is this place?" I ask slowly.
"One of the many Hale volts all over the world," Damon replies.
"What's a Hale vault?" I ask looking at them.
"The Hale family, which Derek of course belongs to, is one of the most or at least was one of the most powerful werewolf packs to ever exist. Their land spread over the world and they had a vault at each one where all their family money, valuables and history was kept." Replies Alaric, his history geekiness coming out.
"If you guys are trying to tell me that Derek is a werewolf you guys are wrong, you have to be. He would have told me. He would have, right?" I stutter out, running my fingers over the claw marks on the walls.
"He probably didn't want to scare you," says Damon calmly.
"What happened to this place? Why the claw marks? Why did they leave?" I ask standing up.
"Not entirely sure but I was there when the pack was leaving, I don't think it was their choice." Says Damon nodding at the claw marks my fingers were tracing.
"It's not like who ran them out are still here though, they wouldn't want to hurt Derek would they?" I shrug.
"Not them themselves but their pack and relatives. Unfortunately I think they probably would." Damon sighs.
"Trust me love, this isn't a safe town for anyone," laughs Klaus.
"Tell me where he is," I speak firmly, looking them dead in the eye.
"He's at my house," replies Klaus.
"I've seen what I needed to, we can leave." I say, my eyes seeming to glaze over.
