The clearing look oddly familiar,
there were no trees at all, not even a single green in sight but the smell of decayed leaves lingers faintly in the air,it still felt very familiar. The land was damp and muddy but solid and smooth. There were no trees but the ground reminded me of the forest within my pack.

Flashback.
"you can run, you can hide but not for long Dora, not for long" Dad said. He was taunting me with that sentence as he kept repeating 'not for long' and my wolf doesn't enjoy being challenged. He knows I'm horrible at hide and seek but today I'm gonna give him a run for his own money.

I picked up a dried branch and threw it in the opposite direction, I needed to distract him but nature didn't agree with me. The trees provided great canopy from the harsh sun but I was still sweating profusely. My scent was becoming heavier and harder to hide, the more I sweat, the heavier my scent. The damp ground wasn't helping either, my footprints were all over the place. Standing from my crouched position, I decided to make a run for it

I was fast, incredibly fast until I tripped on a overlaying root. A loud scream escaped my lips as I kissed the dirt.

"and another one bites the dust" coral snickered "you literally bit the dust D" she continued her jest.

"isn't that used when someone dies, didn't you pay attention in school at all?  And aren't you supposed to look out for things like, I don't know, ROOTS AND BRANCHES I CAN TRIP ON? " I stood up to dust the dirt off my khaki shorts. I felt the ground vibrating, turning in the direction it was coming from only to be tackled back down by a large frame.

"gotcha!!!" my dad said, while standing up and helping me up.

"I literally gave you a run for your money only to trip on a root? A root dad!!! Groaning as I sat back down on the dirt.

"Well you didn't exactly observe your surroundings before running neither did you while running, so for your assignment y-"

"nooooooooooo!"

" oh stop whining! you are going to study the whole forest, observe every twig, leave, stem and root. Every tree and bark. The smell and the landscape" he said as I sprang up and fell back face down, I bit the dust.

"Dorothy look, we're here" Keith says as she ran towards the Information booth. A small tent like structure with 'information' painted boldly at the top part and a lady with thick glasses was at the other side as she attended to the queue.
"com'on loser, move your lazy ass will ya? " she yelled, waving her hands frantically and beckoning me to walk faster.

"I'm exhausted K, very, please come help me" I shouted back at her as I moved my legs slower than a snail. The hair on my back were raising as I felt I was being watched. I looked around only to realise hundreds of eyes were on me, some with amusement while others with anger. Being nervous was an understatement, I was petrified.

"hola cómo Estás?" I yelled "sorry about that, continue with whatever you were doing" I said chuckling nervously. "oh shit" I mumbled as I hurried towards the booth.

"what was that? How? No don't answer that, when did you learn Spanish?" Coral questioned. She is obviously surprised, I never taken Spanish classes or studied the language but who doesn't know 'how are you' in Spanish? Stupid wolf.

I couldn't control the blood rushing to my cheeks as I approached Keith. I grabbed the pen from her and signed in my name on the book placed directly in front of the lady. I smiled at her but she didn't return it, she only glared at me and shouted for the next person. Her irritation was crystal clear, obviously she didn't want to be here, well sucks to be her.
