Dereks POV

Meredith and Monty have been out of town now for 2 days, and I am Missing Mer so so much. I have been swamped with surgeries being one of the few neurosurgeons in the hospital. There were so many amazing surgeries, and Rose was in my O.R. most of the time. Sure, I love Meredith, but she just isn't ready to commit. I was in the middle of some man's brain when our equipment broke, and guess who saved the day, yep none other than Rose. She had taken some tech classes at Santa Cruz a party school. I just don't know how to feel about her. I love Meredith, but I like Rose too.

*** in the scrub room after surgery***

I was scrubbing out when Rose walked in. "You did great in there" I said smiling. "Thanks Dr. Shepherd" Rose said happily. "Rose, I know this will sound weird because you saw me fight with my girlfriend of whatever she is now, but I like you and how you think, and I'm so sorry for not noticing you while you were in my O.R. all those times" I said smiling. Just then she leaned in and kissed me. "I-I'm sorry Rose, I can't do this my fiancé or girlfriend or whatever she is now is having my baby, and-and-and I just can't do this to her. It-It wouldn't be right" I said looking into Rose's eyes. Then I kissed her. "I-I have feelings for you" Rose said holding me close. "I-I-I can't do this to her" I said softly. "Where is she then?" rose said looking into my eyes. "She-she ran she saw me kissing you and she left and she went to Boston with Dr. Monty, and she no longer trusts me" I said sadly. "then spend some time with me Derek, and I want you. I want you to understand that there are other women" Rose said getting close to me. "Rose... I-she-I don't know what to do" I said shakily and she ran her fingers through my hair. "You know what you want Derek, and I admire that" Rose said smiling. "I-I can't do this" I said pushing her away. "Derek?" she asked. "I-I just can't Rose, I like you, but Meredith. I love her, and she-she is carrying my child. It wouldn't be right for me to do this to her" I said pushing Rose away. I then walked out of the scrub room thinking about how I would tell Meredith I kissed Rose again. I mean I really really love Mer, but I like Rose too.

I continued my day rounding on my patients and even performed an amazing craniotomy without Rose on my scrub team.

***after my shift***

I was walking out of the hospital when I ran into Rose literally. "Oh... sorry" I said helping her up. "It's okay" she said looking up at me. "Have a nice night Rose" I said walking away. "You too Dr. Shepherd" Rose said walking inside. I headed back to my trailer and showered before lying in my bed. I laid there and stared through the sun roof at the sky. What the hell am I doing I thought. I was thinking about Meredith, and I just can't stop thinking about her. I've been losing sleep over her.

*** 2 days later at Meredith's house***

I stood at the door working up the courage to knock. I finally knocked on the door and when it swung open I saw Meredith standing there, her hair frizzy and her hand resting on her belly. At that very moment, she was the only thing on my mind. I am just so in love with her it hurts. I know she says she is damaged goods, but she is perfect for me. As she pulled open the door and I stepped inside all I wanted was her. I want her in every way possible. She is definitely the one for me, and we will take this one step at a time.
