She tasted the bitter liquid of the beer as soon as she chugged it down her throat in one go. She didn't know why or how, but Grey had never felt so defeated, useless.
She adjusted her caramel brown eyes to the blue and red lights that were illuminating the club, suddenly hit by the ever moving bright lights.
She slid down her stool that she was sitting on, accompanied by another beer she asked the bartender to give her. Her head was spinning, giving in to the alcohol that burned it's way towards her stomach, creating a fiery whirl inside her body.
Chugging the other beer in one go as well, she passed it onto a passerby that was moving the opposite direction from her, pressing it on to the confused man's hand as she grabbed the other person next to her, which was Jade and ventured into the dance floor.
She gathered her straight dark brown hair that had tumbled onto her shoulders by the sudden movement and put it past her shoulders, her hands then reaching to smooth out the gold flowing dress she had shimmied into earlier in the night. Despite the flowy nature of the mini dress, it had clung to her like a magnet, because of the sweat that she had produced, incited by the large number of souls that were in the club.
My name may be Grey but Gold is my color.
She swayed to the music, along with Jade who was shit drunk, even more drunk than her. (she could hold her alcohol well)
She couldn't believe the number of days she had skipped school with Seth. She couldn't bear to look at Kyle Hastings. Grey may be queen of the school but she was, in many ways weak.
It was a club day for her, namely a Saturday and the girls had decided that they should treat their lives normally despite the storm brewing in their neighbour hood.
She had skipped this week, and it was a blessing for her in a way, seeming as Mark had dropped by her place on Thursday, giving her the overdue pack of coke she had asked for. That small pack was her savior the past two days, helping her feel intoxicated and enthralled by it.
It was petty she knew, but when you had too much money and had no sympathy towards the poor and giving to the charity you'd tend to spend that money on something less hearty and something more dangerous.
She laced her hands with Jade, dancing - grinding more like - in tandem, moving her hips to the very beat that had her heart thumping out as well.
She looked over Jade's shoulder, trying to find Lisa. The girl had gone after one too many drinks, tumbling and tripping over everything, her narcissistic side of her jutting out, rejecting every boy that had tried to make an advance at her.
She sometimes wondered if she was even over Alex. Sure it had been almost a year but the girl had felt such passion towards Alex which definitely wouldn't have been over shadowed by the sorrow she had felt when Alex decided that it wouldn't work out.
Grey and the rest of them has never even talked to her or him about what had happened. The summer romance that had been incited had just disappeared and they had both continued as normal-friendly and casual-towards each other.
Once, just once, Lisa had confided in Grey what she had felt towards Alex. And Grey was sure that the feeling that she had described wouldn't disappear over a year. It was that strong.
Although Lisa had described it to be strong, Grey had somehow known in her heart that wouldn't last. Unlike Lisa's feelings, to her it has seemed like a very fragile relationship, one that had taken place only because of mere lust.
"Do you know where Lisa went?" Jade slurred, echoing Grey's own thoughts. She looked over Jade's shoulder again before shaking her head.
The alcohol had begun to go into her head, making her dizzy. The music had somehow gotten louder, causing her racing heartbeat with adrenaline to race even faster.
She slipped her laced hands out of Jade's, returning back to the bar stool that she was originally seated in and collapsing on the hard marble that had lined the bartenders island.
She knew her conscious was going to slip any moment now, regretting even drinking anything at all. She could've stayed sober but she hadn't. And now she was going to suffer in the morning.
She turned her head away from the bartender's island and directed her attention towards the dance floor.
She singled out Jade, feeling a small pang of anger towards herself for leaving her all alone but it had disappeared when she saw that Jade was busily dancing with another.
Relief washed over her but it had gone as quickly as her anger as she saw who she was dancing with.
Her eyes popped as saw shit drunk Jade take the man's hand, guiding him through the masses of people towards the empty rooms.
She knew where this was going to end. God, how she wished Elijah was here to stop Jade from even thinking about cheating.
Grey scrambled to steady herself and her thumping heart, ready to follow Jade and the mystery man and break up whatever scandalous sex they were about to have.
She didn't even know Jade was capable or had even heard of the word cheating. Sure the blonde was fucking drunk, but she'd been drunk a bazillion times before and had never resorted to taking any one to bed except for Eli.
She felt a small pang of sympathy for Eli, who loved Jade more than anyone and more than his own skin. Who'd do anything, anything for the girl he fell in love with all those years ago.
Grey groaned, feeling her body to be more heavier. She had never felt more uncomfortable in her skin before till now.
She'd never drunk and felt this sort of misery.
She took another step, trying to follow Jade a quickly as possible, but her feet wound up only taking her towards the ground like a moth attracted to a flame.
She felt her conscious slipping away from her and in an instant, she blacked out.
