Grey hated Lucia Rutherford. It didn't help that her middle name was also Lucia, a family tradition.
When the incident had happened last year, it wasn't the fact that Kyle had switched from Lucia to Grey for his target just like Mr. Collins from Pride and Prejudice had, it was the simple fact that her mother hadn't believed her.
They say a mother was supposed to show unconditional love for her kin but Lucia, at the slightest movement had chosen to believe the silly peacock instead of her own flesh and blood.
The thought had made her recoil with anger.
"Honey, you need to go now. Come on." Rosie grabbed her hand, pulling her out of her train of thought.
"No. There's no way. I'm not going." She snatched her hand out of Rosie's grasp, crossing her hand over her chest. She was being childish she knew, but when it came to her mother she didn't care.
"I know you don't like her but-" Grey scoffed at that, her eyes widening at the downgrade. "She's your mother."
"You mean that skank? She's not my mother."
Rosie's eyes widened. She still couldn't get used to Grey calling Lucia that. Although she's heard it for quite a while.
Rosie sighed, crossing her own arms over her chest. "Don't be a child Grey. Suck it up."
"Suck it up? Suck it up? That bitc-woman broke our family apart. She broke me! She broke my dad. And now she wants to see me?" Grey laughed humorlessly. "She hasn't contacted me once after last year. Not that I care but still? She has no fucking right!"
Rosie winced at Grey's outburst. Grey knew why Rosie hadn't said anything. Because she knew that Grey was right about this.
"And what about dad? Does he know?" She asked when Rosie deigned to not give a reply.
"He doesn't." She said, now grabbing Grey by the hand again and guiding her towards the staircase. "He's in France for a case and you know how he gets when he's working on it."
"Wait. Dad doesn't know?!" Grey raised an eyebrow as she let Rosie lead her into the car. It seemed silly now, considering the outburst she pulled a mere two minutes ago and now she was hauled into going. She simply had no energy, and Grey wondered if she was that weak if she just let her mother control her like this.
"He doesn't. Look, she won't be staying with us, heaven forbid. You just need to pick her up at the airport say hi and just, I don't know, not say anything if you wish. I'll explain everything later." Rosie said as she pulled Grey's forehead towards her with her hand touching the back of Grey's brown hair, planting a slight kiss on her forehead as a means of saying goodbye.
"Alright." She mumbled. All the anger that had resided in her had disappeared, with a slight soothing effect from Rosie.
She got into the backseat of the Mercedes-Benz, nodding a small hello to the driver Mr.Holland (he only works part time) that she hadn't seen in a while.
She pursed her lips, taking the phone that Rosie had tossed onto the leather car seat when she pushed Grey in-god this lady was a god send for Grey, she had no idea when Rosie had grabbed her phone from the room- and swiped her finger across the screen.
Grey: Hey, I'm really sorry. I need to cancel my mother is coming and well I'm supposed to pick her up. Okay I'm sorry.
He replied a few heartbeats later. The word okay flashed on the screen on the left hand side. She felt a bit-just a bit disappointed that he didn't pull out a "what? You're the one who wanted this."
Sighing, she tossed her phone carelessly onto the leather seat, tilting her head towards the tinted windows. Her right arm was squashed with the weight of the body she was leaning onto the side of the car but she didn't care. At least that pain would keep her thoughts at bay.
"Hey, when we're there, wake me up please." She said to the driver who nodded. At least that's what she thought he did, she could only see through the rear mirror.
She let out a yawn, daintily she might add and closed her lids, hoping her subconscious would take her mind to somewhere better than the life she was living in. After a few long minutes, Grey felt her conscious slipping as the light died.
She didn't really know when, but she felt a warm pair of hands rousing her. She opened her lids, long, thick eyelashes fluttering. Her eyes squinted at the sudden increase in the saturation, from deep and dark jet black to a bright orange as looked up to see that the car door was open and that the driver was shaking her gently.
She looked around to see that she was in the Los Angeles airport, the LAX, the car parked amongst the stream of cars parked near the Arrivals centre.
Her heart wrenched, the thought of seeing her mother almost made her want to hurl. Instead, she put on a flashing white smile and she grabbed her phone and got out of the car, mumbling a thank you to the driver.
She bought a ticket to go inside and clutching the ticket tightly in her hands she proceeded.
By the time she reached the waiting area the ticket in her hands was crumpled to shreds, the words barely visible.
She took the sign board that was neatly folded and tucked into her jeans pocket out. The driver had given it to her at some time during the ride to LAX (when she wasn't sleeping of course) and Grey was hesitant to even hold the board that had Lucia Rutherford written neatly in cursive above her head.
Thankfully she didn't have to as she spotted her mother, recognizing her immediately as the loud clack of her Louboutins and the countless amounts of Louis Vuitton suitcases trailed after the woman.
She immediately threw the sign board into a near trash can, hoping that she could throw her mother into it as well and walked towards her mother with a pearly white smile.
God she wanted to kill herself.
Thanks for 500+ reads !! I appreciate it ohoho
