The warnth of the sun shone across my face waking me from my slumber. I twisted around in the creme sheets of my bed trying to sheild my eyes from the brightness that seemed to flood in from the bedroom window.

"Wakey wakey!' says my brother poking my arm

I reluctantly stuck my hands outsie of the covers and signed

'Five more minutes.... ' Before quickly pulling my hands back into the coforting warmth of the sheets

"Oh no you don't!' my brother teased "We were late to work yesterday because of you"

Oh, right. Work. We has started to wait tables at my uncles restaurant just last week and I already hated the job. Not only was there barley anyone who came to the tiny town on the border of Maine, but due to my "dysability" I had to clean the tables. That was my uncles rule, you can't talk, you clean.

I felt strong hand grab my ancles and  begin to pull me from underneath the covers. Before you could say....um......Windex, I was outside of my warm cocoon, on the cold hardwood floor. My brother stood before me with a smirk playing across his features.

"Now get ready." he ordered me. I stood up and stuck my tongue out at him childishly, before strolling over to the closet.

Our uncle had taken us shopping the day we arrived, and our closet was full of brand new clothing. While Xavier liked darker plainer outfits, I loved floral and pastels. It's not that I was girly, I could beat Xavier in a fight any day, not worried if I broke an nail or not. I just thought bright colors brighten gloomy days. And because it is generally over cast here, why not?

I grabbed some clothing before heading to the bathroom. I showered and pulled on my clothing beored taking my hair out of its messy bun and letting is hang in lose curls arounf my sholders.

Without bothering to knock, Xavier strolled into the bathroom. He gerally wore just a t-shirt and jeans and it was obvious that he was repeating that pattern today.

"Come on," he said "we won't be late again."

I followed him from the bathroom to the door of the apartment and we headed to work.
