Love is in the Air

Chase

Based on the writing prompt below found by Jakob :), it could have gone in so many different directions. It's what made this one hard to write. 

Writing Prompt: It's all fun and games until you're in a high speed chase with three police cars on your ass, one of them being driven by your mom.

Desmond's POV

"She is going to kill me!" Every yells.

"Shut up!" I yell back.

"Don't you fucking tell me to shut up! I told you it would get us in trouble. But no, you just had to play the prank that is going to land us in jail."

"How was I supposed to know this was going to happen?" I can imagine him shaking his head as I continue to press down on the gas.

"What made you think this was a good idea instead of stopping?"

"I--"

"You didn't. You never do!"

"I--"

"I should have left you."

"I--"

"You are--"

"Every!"

"What?"

"You're not helping."

"We're being followed by your mother! How do you want me to calm down?!"

"My mom?" I ask as I look back.

"Yes! Keep your eyes on the road! That's her SUV. "

"She is going to kill me." I state.

"No, I'm going to kill you first."

"Why must you be so violent?"

"How can you be teasing in a moment like this?"

"You're my best friend."

"That's not fair."

I smile. "But you are."

"You wouldn't have dragged me into this. We could die."

"I'll protect you."

"Why are we doing this again?"

"We witnessed it."

"Why couldn't we leave it to someone else?"

"It's an adventure."

"That prank is all the adventure I wanted to be forced into."

"We have a social duty."

"We have an individual duty to stay alive."

"We can't just let him go."

"And that's why we're going to be killed."

"We are not. We have backup."

"That's not our backup."

"It is. We'll be fine. I always wanted to be in a chase."

"If I wasn't fearing for my life, I would punch you right now."

"You're becoming violent."

"You're infuriating."

"Is he slowing?" Every asks.

"Why?"

"That's a stupid question." He replies.

"It was rhetorical. They are gaining on us."
